Why I love my grinder :) A couple of months ago, Pearsons Glass gave me The Grinder. I've used it on every project since, so I thought it was time for an update. Drumroll ....... I love it! So I've made this video for other stained glass artists to talk through why I'm impressed. - there's almost no chipping on the glass edge - it's much quieter than my last grinder - the grinding heads, called the Quick-Fit Bit system, are really easy to change - the guard contains the water well - my work area is dry! - The light is very effective - I like the drawer for the spare accessories - it's easy to clean as the tray lifts off - the eye shield does what it's supposed to! Building Abundance in the kiln 270 separate pieces of art glass - and every one needs to be positioned perfectly to create the effect I want. You can see I’ve drawn some guidelines onto the kiln paper, so at least I know where the key pieces go. The rest I just need to fit as I go. Here I'm cutting and breaking glass for the main floral roundel, part of the Abundance Triptych. I cut most of the glass pieces by hand - it's very satisfying to see the project move on from computer design ideas to the real thing!!
