Why you can't kick to the head...part 3
Any muscle that contracts (agonist) has an opposing lengthening muscle (antagonist)
Think quads in hamstrings
So when we kick, we have to work on the lengthening of one muscle...AND the strengthening of another muscle

The abductors allow the leg to swing out, the adductors bring the leg back, but one had to contract and one has to lengthen, depending on which direction the leg is. going, this means we have to work on Strengthening and Relaxing at any given time
THATS why generic stretching - 'Do the splits' programmes DONT work for high kicks

Why you can't kick to the head...part 2!
Increasing your static passive range of motion will not increasing your Kicking height! (at least, not enough for you to notice) so you have to work on BOTH!

The REAL reason you can't kick like this...isn't because of your tecnique.
Tecnhique has nothing to do with it.....If you've ever seen a kids class, you'll see they can effortlessly throw kicks they've never seen before, because their body is already mobile enough to do it...
Once you learn how to optimsie your body like that, you'll be able to do it too...

Your complete range of motion is limited by your static passive range of motion...
So before you even ATTEMPT to increase your kicking height, you need to fix THIS first...

Tim went from kicking to below the KNEE to the shoulder in 12 weeks...From below the KNEE!

The hook kick looks absolutely awesome, but SO many people struggle with it.....truthfully it's not the hook part that the issue, the issue is their sidekick.
A good sidekick in the pre-requisite to a good hook kick, and most people struggle with the side kick, because the abductors are too weak, and thier adductors are too tight,
Here's the thing - Kicks require the lengthening of at least one muscle and the contraction of another, so flexibility alone isn't the answer, you need strength too!
