***Status Update*** - 11th May 2024

Greetings history lovers.

We’re going back to basics.

It is becoming painfully apparent that trying to please everyone is nigh on impossible and doesn’t actually do anyone any favours. So, we’re scaling back a bit.
For the moment we are closing our commission books and footwear orders from the website. Too many ‘out of stock’ orders are coming in and it’s becoming too difficult to deal with them in a timely and professional manner. We are taking back control of what we make, when we make and for whom.
We will still be taking some commissions but only after thorough discussion about lead times and materials availability. This way we hope to be able to manage expectations better and also have a full communications trail of what has been promised for when etc.. This helps both sides fully understand and records what has been agreed.

Materials & Parts - Some materials and parts are becoming increasingly difficult to source unless we buy in bulk all the time. In the current cash climate this is simply not sustainable for the thousands of items we would require to be fully stocked of everything all the time. This is why, for the foreseeable future, we will only be accepting commissions after full and frank discussion. We’re also hoping this will help remove any confusions and assumptions over stock availability.

Stock Availability (Handmade Goods) – As we complete commission items we will endeavour to make extra to start building a stock of our popular hand made goods. Moving forward we hope this means items will become more readily available. This of course will take time so bear with us.

Footwear – We have great stock of some lines and no stock of others. Trying to fulfil so many custom orders has caused you many issues so we are scaling back our range until it becomes manageable and all back orders are fulfilled. As with the custom hand made goods above you can still order non stock items but only after we have discussed lead times etc.. In order to tackle the backlog we currently have we are grouping our orders into periods to make it easier for our Artisans to tackle. This will of course mean that some lines will take longer to restock than others. (We’re not a bottomless cash fund unfortunately) It also means that we can add items as these orders are placed.

The website will become more of a catalogue for the moment. Just to make sure that things do not get out of control and remain manageable.
You can still order our fantastic goods. We just require you to enquire about availability first.
We want to remove wait times as much as we possibly can.
All orders are being completed so please do not worry. We’re just making sure workloads are manageable.

We were already stacked out with work so we sent our design to one of our peers who has made a stock of these for us.

The item pictured forms the basis for our Oil Tan Sleeveless Jerkin Range. This particular one is to have sleeves attached to meet the customer requirements. It's the first of a set of 3x.
Made from gorgeous Oil Tan Buff Leather. 100% Handsewn (My fingers are in bits) with waxed linen thread.
We have 3 ranges of Buff Coat/jerkin. Each is fully customisable to suit your needs.

Working late on an Oil Tan Buff Jerkin commission. Sooooo much 'Butt Stitching'. Using plenty of waxed linen thread. (It's all we use for our HA stuff) Might need to retire the old block soon. (Or just trim it back).
There is so much to learn in this trade. Every day is a school day.
