Yin yoga is now live to book Monday 25th April!

Yin yoga is a slow-paced class holding poses for 3 - 5 minutes mainly in a variety of seated poses. The aim of yin yoga is to be comfortable with letting go releasing any unwanted tension, flushing out toxins, developing strong flexible joints and enabling a calmer mind.

When practising yin yoga you become attentive to sensations of compression and tension, allow yourself time, space, and intention and learn to fly your own plane to discover what is best for you and your body.

If you would like to book, head to my website www.mindfulness-yoga.co.uk for Monday 25th April 6 - 7 pm for £7.

"We do not use our body to get into a pose. We use the pose to get into the body." Bernie Clarke

If you are worried about not being bendy enough, the pressure of doing the pose 'right' know that Mindfulness Yoga welcomes and promotes individual abilities and natural body movements with no desire to reach a 'perfect' pose.

Alignment means nothing if it's forced and isn't meant for your body structure as each pose should create all different shapes. Through my yoga training we learn the best way to move your body safely and in the healthiest way for you.

Officially a yin yoga teacher!

Thank you to Emma Epton Yoga and Yoga Reloaded for an incredible course.

One of the main reasons I took it up was to not only teach it but also for me to learn techniques on how to just go with the flow and trust to let go. I have learnt more about myself than I ever have done. Self-love is key to accepting the ebb and flow of daily life.❤️

07/01/2022

I know what you're thinking. The knee overshoots the foot and it isn't the 'proper' way.

Through my Yoga Reloaded training we were taught that there are a lot of myths out there surrounding yoga, this example is one of many.

I am your yoga teacher offering science and modern based techniques to guide each and every one of you with updated knowledge on anatomy and physiology.

Sacral chakra.

The second chakra is the sacral chakra. Take a look below at some interesting facts about the 2nd chakra.

The sacral chakra is located at the coccyx, is linked to the water element and the colour orange.

If you are balanced in this chakra you have an ability to experience pleasure, nurturing of the self and others, emotional intelligence and healthy boundaries.

If you are disconnected in this chakra you can often have poor social skills, denial of pleasure, lack of desire. Passion or excitement.

If you are excessive in this chakra you can often experience pleasure addiction, hypersensitivity, lack of poor boundaries and co-dependency.

The feet are considered the foundation of the body.👣

We tend to neglect our feet a lot.

Through my training with Yoga Reloaded we understand how important it is to let the feet feel free and allow for healthy movement.

From a tiny age, we squeeze our feet into shoes and it’s not a natural way for us humans to move in.

I have just invested in a pair of trainers from Vivobarefoot that allow you to feel like you aren’t wearing shoes at all, feeling all the elements beneath your feet.

Combining yoga movement, keeping your feet free from restriction and a sense of feeling grounded is one of the most important things you can do for your body and mind.

Class schedule reminder.

In the next couple of weeks, I will be taking time off as I am getting married but the schedule will be back on as normal from 16th August.

I am teaching online every Monday at 6pm. To book please visit https://www.mindfulness-yoga.co.uk/. Catered for all levels, focusing on science and modern techniques to build you up safely into your yoga poses.

20/07/2021

Meditate, pause and reflect.

Restrictions are slowly being lifted - yippee! But there will and still be some element of anxiety that we are experiencing. It’s important that you take a step back to reflect on what has happened so that you can make peace with it; it’s so easy to forget the challenges that we faced.

13/07/2021

Restorative yoga classes can aid your parasympathetic nervous system.

Sometimes your mind wants you to keep moving and keep busy but it’s important to have those down days and completely let go. It can be hard to trust your body to relax when you feel out of control but it’s the best and most important thing you can do for yourself.

Root chakra 🔴

Each week we have been working towards the 7 energy centres in our body to align and balance our well-being. The first of the chakras is the Root chakra. Take a look below at some interesting facts about the 1st chakra.

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine, is linked to the earth element and the colour red.

If you are disconnected from this chakra you can often have poor focus, disorganisation and become anxious and restless.

If you are excessive in this chakra you can often experience greediness, laziness and fixate on material things.

Yoga is a small part of bringing mindfulness into your daily routine. Everyone is different in order to find their inner calm, what do you like to do to help you stay grounded and at ease?

14/04/2021

Breathe through the storm.

Allow yourself to have your highs and lows and don’t be afraid to let go in your down days. We need these storms to appreciate the calm we have within us.

Yoga journey realisations.

I have learnt so much throughout the last couple of years. The most powerful tool for me is giving time and space to just sit allows me to come up with great ideas, new beginnings, self-respect and a whole new outlook on life, so why are we not doing more of this?!

The best times are when we do nothing yet the world is very much brainwashing us to do everything. I am still learning to let go and trust in the now, but no wonder why we are so misaligned with what the world wants us to do and how hard it is for us to just stop. Moral of the story is don’t be so hard on yourself as it’s incredibly tough to listen to your inner voice sometimes when the rest of the world is shouting the loudest.

02/04/2021

Looking forward to seeing you all next week.🙏

If you would like to join it would be lovely to practice with you too. Get in touch by either sending a private message or by visiting my website www.mindfulness-yoga.co.uk.

Get to know me! 5 fun facts about me...

1. I am 27 years old and I have been living in a beautiful town called Hythe situated right on the seafront. Having lived here all my life I cannot picture living anywhere else. The sea to me is the most calming place to live near.⛵

2. My name is Genevieve, a french name known as the majority of the time as Gen.🇫🇷

3. I am a tall bean of 5ft 9 and yes I used to wear heels in the club and I was about 6ft but I couldn’t care less, embrace the tallness!🦒

4. I am a food addict and will eat anything and everything. I strongly believe that a balanced diet is a way forward to live a happy and healthy life. I will happily eat 3 double cheeseburgers and the next day a healthy mixed salad - don’t judge.😂

5. I tend to keep my personal life pretty private on social media to keep the balance but I have 2 older brothers and I’m an auntie to 5 littlens, a husband-to-be and some pretty awesome parents to name a few.👪

What are my classes like?🧐

Mindfulness Yoga classes use a mixture of science and modern techniques to build up into an asana pose safely and with ease with a 5-10 minute relaxing meditation at the end.

My classes aren’t about how bendy or stretchy you are, it’s all about understanding our own unique bodies and learning how to work with them. Through my teachings with Yoga Reloaded our aim is to understand the anatomy and to use it in ways that suit and benefit you.

Mindfulness Yoga

The aim of Mindfulness Yoga is to enable you to unwind, stay healthy and positive throughout life’s journey.

I came to yoga through a stressful time in my career; it helped me overcome personal challenges and enabled me to thrive again. I’ve experienced first hand the transformative and empowering effects of yoga which I want to share.

Mindfulness Yoga is based on the principles of functional yoga which is rooted in up-to-date understanding of our bodies and anatomy to enable us to get the most out of our bodies in modern life.

Mindfulness Yoga will be launching in early 2021 in Hythe, Kent. I am currently a Yoga Reloaded trainee who will qualify at the end of 2020.
