More about the role
We operate a busy Newsagents & Convenience Store in the heart of our community here in Sandal and we have a vacancy for a weekend part time role. As a Sales Assistant, you will be at the forefront of our store, driving customer service and attending to customers' needs.

What can you expect to be doing?
• Deliver excellent customer service when serving customers
• Operating general systems and cash handling
• Controlling and replenishing stock levels
• Maintaining security and remaining vigilant whilst on shift
• To maintain and update administrative duties in accordance with existing procedures
• Deal with deliveries from our suppliers
• Deal with customer queries in efficient and timely manner
• General retail duties which can change depending on the needs of the business

A few things about you
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with customers
• Fantastic customer service and face to face communication skills
• To be able to work as part of a team and collaborate with other team members
• Great attention to detail and an ability to manage time effectively are necessities for the role
• Working under pressure and meeting expectations
• Be helpful and friendly and feel comfortable working with the public
• To be enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated
• Adopt a ‘can do’ attitude to challenging situations with the business
• Have a flexible approach to working hours including occasionally be required to work additional hours to cover holidays and sickness
• Ideally previous experience in a retail face to face enviroment is preferred
• GCSE Maths and English at grade c or level 4 ( or equivalent )
• Must be aged 18 or over for legal reasons

The ideal candidate

Working in a busy retail store at the heart of the Sandal community brings pride but also pleasure in providing a service to our customers and the local community. Therefore, by having a vast product knowledge is extremely important. In the role, you'll be responsible for serving customers, providing excellent customer service, offering in-store services such as Paypoint, National Lottery and My Hermes which entail dealing with parcels, accepting bill payments and conducting general retail duties.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a busy retail enviroment and have knowledge and practices of general duties conducted in a retail enviroment. You will need a good eye for detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and preferably have cash handling experience and have a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Hours Of Work: 12 Hours (Hours of work may change slightly)

Saturdays: 11:30am-17:30pm

Sundays: 11:00am-17:00pm

£8.91 per hour
