We are incredibly proud of our unbelievable “Oliver” cast, who pulled out all the stops with their version of the classic tale of Oliver Twist this afternoon 👏🏼🙌🏼

Over 60 KS2 pupils auditioned only a matter of weeks ago, and today they pulled off an amazing, tear jerking, phenomenal performance!! 🥹

To say we are proud of what the children achieved would be an understatement 🥰❤️

We must say an extra special “THANK YOU” to Mrs Riley, our musical genius, who put the whole show together!!

Don’t forget, if you are a parent of a child who has Special Educational Needs and would like to meet and chat with other parents in the same position you are invited to come along to our coffee morning tomorrow (Friday 12th July) 9am - 10am. Today, Year 6 celebrated a very special Mass on Holy Island with their peers from St. Columba’s and St. Aidan’s primary schools. After their transition visits to St. Thomas More last week, it was lovely to see them all together in the chapel.

Despite the rain, we managed to spend some time on the beach and afterwards, Father David very kindly treated us all to fish and chips at Seahouses. Wallsend Catholic Churches Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle

✍🏼 🗳️The importance of democracy 🗳️ ✍🏼

Upper Key Stage 2 came together this week to learn about the General Election. They read the party manifestos and watched their campaign videos, then had some fantastic discussion and debate in support of their chosen party.

The staff were so proud of the respect and maturity shown during their discussions! They then voted democratically in a secret ballot and an overall winner was declared.

We are so proud of you all for ‘Living the Gospel’

🌟This week, we celebrated all of our Year 6 pupils achieving their PIN award for “Faith In Action” 🌟

During this week’s Celebration of the Word, all pupils were awarded their badges and certificates for living out our Gospel Values.

Throughout the year, they have earned credits and kept journals of all of their acts of kindness, humility, stewardship, compassion and courage 💜🩷❤️💛🧡💚

We couldn’t be more proud of our shining stars…WELL DONE YEAR 6!!

As part of their Geography learning, LKS2 have had a fantastic day at Richardson Dees Park 🌳 We completed an orienteering course, 🧭 🗺️ looked for and sketched some habitats, created some natural artwork 🌼 hunted for bugs 🐛🕷️🐞 completed a meditative sound safari and talked about how we can use sounds around us to help us plan routes. The children were exceptionally well behaved but we’re sure they’ll be pretty tonight! 😴🤗

Thank you never seems enough to capture the love and appreciation we feel for the work our commUNITY group do throughout the year for our school. But we would like to say a HUGE thanks to them for the time, dedication, thought and passion they put into organising such a special day for our school community ❤️☺️

Today, footballers from years 3&4 took part in the St Thomas More football festival ⚽️

The green & whites finished 3rd🥉whilst the blues finished 2nd🥈. The children’s skills, sportsmanship and attitudes were fantastic as always along with some cracking goals and saves 🥅 ⚽️💯

Today is 💛Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Day 💛 and Early Years have had a yellow themed day to support this cause very close to their hearts. As you may or may not know, one of our gorgeous Nursery children has cystic fibrosis - and they just had to mark this special day in style for her! 💛💛💛
She kindly brought in a special cake to share with her friends, the children have decorated biscuits with yellow icing and sparkles, they have played yellow bingo, had yellow face paint tattoos, they even had a yellow Photo Booth, but most importantly, they found out about cystic fibrosis through a lovely book and video!

🌟🌟🌟 SPORTS DAY🌟🌟🌟

Today, our whole school celebrated Sports Week by coming together in their phases for their Sports Days.

We were so proud of all of the children, who displayed incredible teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. A huge THANK YOU and WELL DONE to all of our parents who stepped up and joined in our parent races too 👏🏼🙌🏼

We think it’s clear that Mr Sales’s message of “HAVE FUN!” was well and truly lived out today!!

Footballers from years 3&4 travelled to St Aidan’s this afternoon to compete in the Philip Reilly Memorial Cup alongside a number of local primary schools.

After successfully winning their group, without losing a game or conceding a goal, St Bernadette’s went on to be crowned the winners of the cup 🏆⚽️🥳🎉

Mr Sales has been particularly proud of the players’ team spirit, sportsmanship and says they have been outstanding ambassadors for our school!!!

UKS2 had a fantastic morning in Forest School today 🌲🌳

In addition to exploring the environment, building dens, and learning about nature, they also showed incredible determination, resilience and teamwork to start their own fires 🔥

During check out, they were asked how they were feeling…their responses included: ”excited for next week…proud….I surprised myself…so happy” ❤️

We have recently had the privilege of celebrating the children who have made their First Holy Communion over the last few weeks 🤍

The children have journeyed together alongside Fr David, their families, friends, staff and an amazing group of catechists who selflessly give up their time to help prepare the children for receiving both their First Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion 🤍

Following 4 beautiful services with friends and families, the children will come together on Friday 28th June for a whole class Mass and then return to school to celebrate with a special lunch 🤍

Well done to you all….. we are incredibly proud of you all 🤍

This afternoon we had a wonderful assembly, led by Mr Sales, to introduce us to all of the exciting plans for next week’s ’Sports Week’.

He explained his 4 big aims for the week, but the most important one…HAVE FUN!!!

We then celebrated a number of our children’s sporting achievements, as we always do, as part of Celebration Assembly 👏🏼🏆

Making memories at High Borrans ❤️

Well, it’s been a wet and soggy day at High Borrans today but that hasn’t stopped us getting out and about with a day packed with caving, kayaking, orienteering and climbing the trees on the ropes course 🌧️ 🛶🧗🧭

The sun has finally come out this evening in time for dinner and evening activities. No doubt there’ll be some early nights and solid sleeps tonight ☀️💤🤞🏼

After a sunny picnic stop at Brockhole, they headed out for an explore of the grounds and surrounding area. They’ve had tea and are now tackling making their beds and unpacking 🤞🏼😂
