As we learn of the sad news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away, our thoughts are with the Royal Family as they grieve for their Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother.
The Queen demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to duty throughout her Reign and did so with a graceful strength and admirable determination.
She ruled throughout decades of change, from the dark post-war years, through to the new horizons of the 21st century, providing essential continuity for the nation.
This is a period of public grief when people who do not know each other come together to mourn a national figure who has been consistent throughout our lives and for whom we have collective affection despite not knowing her personally.
We share our condolences to the Royal Family and King Charles III at this sad time.
We are open on Saturday for Bank Holiday weekend but the library will be closed on Monday :)
Our Summer Reading Challenge is now live. Come and visit the library and if you're not already a member, join up and take part :)
Why not take a look at the trails too - a fun outside activity to exercise the kids mentally and physically.
In preparation for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, one of our younger volunteers has prepared a display with interesting facts and pictures from the Queen's history.
There are also some colouring pages for our younger visitors to take and colour at home βοΈ
After two long years we are happy to bring back our Places of Welcome to the library.

Please pop along and join our lovely Thursday volunteers for a drink and a chat.
Our volunteers are taking a short break over Easter. We hope everyone has a great Easter and doesn't eat too much chocolate ;) π£π
We have very kindly been donated a copy of The Magic of Jack by local author, Amanda Edwards.
If you would like to take a look, our copy is on the shelf in the children's section of the library. Unfortunately it's not available to borrow as yet.
Amanda will also be holding a book launch at Olde Wyrley Hall on Saturday 26 March from 4 pm to 6 pm.
This made us smile :-)
We're open until Thursday 23rd, after which we are closed until January 4th 2022. But when we're open you can indeed borrow books for free!
