Another weekly question that we asked our DJs recently: what do you enjoy most/what is your favourite thing about your job? Not specifically DJing as some of our staff don’t DJ.

Most of the answers we had of many of our staff members was “organisation” and “watching everything come together.” This does mostly come from our office staff as they see what happens from behind the scenes and will see the whole process of particular events. This will be from the first email or phone call right up until the end of the event. They get to watch the whole booking process and will sometimes go out to the event and be present to see how amazing the night will be.

Most of our DJs said that they enjoy how close we all are and how well we work together, if anyone is stuck someone is around to help out and there is never a problem that will be unsolved. All our DJs can count on each other when one is stuck or needs a bit of help, weather that be for music or if they need help setting up or packing down, someone will always be around to help.

They all also said that they enjoy watching you guys, our customers, have the time of your lives at your events. They love the thrill they get when the customers are all up on the dance floor with their arms in the air, singing and dancing. They said it’s an “adrenaline rush” when this happens, and they know they have have their customers the best night possible.

Getting to know J.A.B.S Event Hire J.A.B.S Event Hire is a premier wedding and corporate event entertainment company based in Walsall, we have DJ's, Photo Booths, Fun Casino Tables, LED LOVE Letters etc.

This week we asked our DJ's: What is one song that you never get bored of playing/hearing, no matter how many times it gets requested or how many events you play the song at?

Pam said: She enjoys playing Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” or The Jam's “Town Called Malice” as both of them are a personal favourite and always receive a great response when played. For childrens parties she loves to play S Club 7's “Reach” as there is always so much enthusiasm from the children when they hear it!

Jay said: Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons “Can't Take My Eyes Off You”. He said when he is DJing and is watching the crowd sing “I love you baby” the dance floor comes together as one and all they care about is singing and dancing and watching it is magical!

Abbi said: her favourite song to hear is Luude “Big City Life” as this is one of her personal favourites and she loves when it gets requested by the guests or on a playlist as it always gets a great reaction from the guests!

And Lucy, one of our photo booth operatives and event planners said: Bobby Brown's “2 Can Play That Game” or Next's “Wifey”. These 2 songs she will always have a dance and sing to while she is working, but she generally will dance and sing along to anything and much prefers the older songs that we play!

Working in the events industry we are always surrounded by music and sometimes hearing the same songs can become very repetitive so we love when something new or unusual comes our way! We definitely have a wide range of music knowledge and tastes across the team!

Photo booths are definitely a staple to your events. They bring the fun factor to your wedding or celebration, whilst your professional photographer is capturing all your beautiful professional pictures. Our Photo Booths will capture the fun moments from your guests.

When booking your Photo Booth or 360 video booth, there are a few things that you should take into account! One of these things would be space, if your venue doesn’t have much space, then a selfie screen would be perfect.

If you have a lot of space to work with our inflatable booths or our 360 video booths are great to fill the space, and ensure your guests have the best time. They all come with props for you to use and there will always be a staff member to accompany them. We also offer prints on the night and albums that we create for you.

J.A.B.S Night At The Prom!

As prom season is upon us, most of our DJs have been out most nights hosting your prom nights. Proms are a special part of a year 11 or year 13 leavers night. All the girls get to look glam in their pretty prom dresses, and all the boys get to look smart in their suits. We also have all the year 6 leavers discos, where all the children look smart in their party outfits.

We find these nights very special as we get to see the last part of the school journey, and the staff at J.A.B.S Event Hire are honoured to be a part of this special night. Granted some proms start off slow, as everyone is arriving, having pictures and finding their group of friends. But once they get going on the dance floor, they are unstoppable!

This was one of our DJs experiences from their “Night At The Prom” …

“Well I had a prom last night and...it was honestly a really good night. People arrived in trickles and milled around until the buffet was opened and once they'd eaten and the lights went down they didn't leave the dancefloor. I had so many requests I couldn't fit them all in and a couple of the girls told me I was the best DJ the school had ever had because 'normally female DJs are all uptight and boring' 🤣🤣. It was one of those events that if I could've carried on longer for them I absolutely would have, they were all having such a good time and so polite and just enjoying their evening.”

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR JUNE GOES TO… Aaron Wright.

Congratulations Aaron, winning 2x Calderfields vouchers, as always a big thank you to Calderfields Golf & Country Club for allowing us to have these.

Aaron has been apart of J.A.B.S Event Hire since the very start. Working along side Jamie since the age of 14. Aaron is fully trained in everything we have to offer, including CO2 guns and indoor sparklers, also being trained in anything to do with pyrotechnics. He learned the ways of the business and passed all the required standards at just 16 years old.

Aaron is always happy to help out whenever he is needed, whether that is doing pick ups and drops offs with different equipment or any of our staff members. He has recently been needed a lot more as our summer months are getting busier with wedding season. He’s been available to go to his own events while also making sure other people are at their events on time and set up ready to go. He also works hard at his own events to ensure his guests have the most magical night.

JUNE ENDEAVOUR OF THE MONTH GOES TO… Pam Male!

Congratulations Pam, winning a crate of your favourite drink!

Pam is one of our most hardworking female staff members. She loves a sing along and she loves to get the guests involved on the dance floor. Pam is an expert at making sure the customers are having the most amazing time. She is also our Children’s party specialist as she is also a big kid at heart, and is amazing with children. She knows how to get the kids involved in all the party games and have them jumping around the dance floor.

Pam also works at many of our care homes around the area, she loves to see the smiles on all those faces and enjoys seeing everyone have the best time. She always works without complaint and makes sure she has a smile on her face the whole time, even when she’s not feeling her 100% bubbly self.

Congratulations Pam!

Tonight the team are at Coventry Building Society Arena supporting our friends at Western Business Media with the annual FSM Awards for the 3rd year running.

Always a pleasure to attend these nights and meet the deserving award winners.

May Endevour Of The Month Goes To...
Abigail Firman. Congratulations Abbi, you have won a crate of your favourite drink.

Abigail is one of our most hard working staff members, she always puts 110% into her work. She is one of our office ladies but also does so much more for the business. She makes sure each staff member are at their events on time and at the right place. She does pick ups and drops off for each staff member to ensure they get to their event at the right time. She helps with set ups and pack downs, loading everything in and out of vans and cars. She DJs her own events, runs photo booths, goes out with candy carts and LED letters and so much more. Abigail is the backbone of the whole business.

The past couple of weeks have been pretty hectic with events while also having pride weekend. Abbi helped out and made sure everything ran smoothly the while weekend. She helped build and dismantle the pride float, then also going to her own events after this was done, she has drive long distances to different events with many pieces of equipment loading in and out of venues. And then driving back late at night after the event has finished. She's made sure all our equipment is organised and put back into place, she's also made sure that everything that is needed for that week of events is loaded in and ready to go.

May Employee Of The Month Goes too...
Lucy Wilson!! Congratulations Lucy, winning 2x Calderfields vouchers. Thank k you to Calderfields Golf & Country Club for letting us have these.

Lucy has been apart of our compnay for a whole year and she gets stuck in and helps out where ever she can. She works in the office doing things behind the scenes that our customers don't see, she answers emails and phone calls, she also works hard with our social media pages making sure to update you all with our past events and all our products.

The last couple of weeks Lucy has helped out alot doing things that aren't office related. She's worked closely with Abigail going to many different events helping with loading in and out with lots of equipment. Recently we have had pride weekend where the business has been pretty busy, Lucy helped out making sure all the events that weekend were set up and ready to go. She also helped with the building of the pride float and also dismantling it.

Birmingham Pride 2024-we're coming for you!

As you may be aware, we have commenced our Pride events a few days ahead of the official start of Pride Month. In this regard, I am pleased to unveil our new logo for Pride Month 2024 🌈🏳️‍🌈🌈.

Additionally, Jay and the team will be providing, audio (officially the loudest float, if you cant see us you'll certainly hear us)🙉🙉🙉🙊🙊🙊, co2 cannons 💨💨💨, lighting🚦🚦🚦, Vertical Foggers 💥💥, Blue 🔵 and Yellow 🟡 flares plus The man himself Jamie Firman will be bringing the energy to the decks for everyone's entertainment, all for the IKEA float at Birmingham Pride
