Sarita Wellbeing
Wellbeing for flexibility, resilience and strength: body, mind & soul β¨οΈπΏππ
1 Jan-2024 π
Here goes, my loves, sorry it's a wordy one...
As I went to sleep last night - sober, alone, and content, I might add - I settled on SIMPLICITY for the year ahead.Β
Sure, 2023 saw me cheering on Roxie Nafousi at a sell-out 'Manifestation' Ally Pally gig. I have followed countless podcasts from the likes of Gabby Bernstein and flirted with various business ideas..., but my authentic goal isn't to find my perfect love or secure abundant riches π°. Maybe tomorrow π π.Β
I reckon I know the most destructive hits to my wellbeing in 2023 - causes of raised cortisol, fragmented sleep & overthinking. β οΈβοΈ Have you figured out your triggers and unhelpful connections to avoid... β οΈβοΈ?
πΏπ2024 (and forever): MINDSET π§πΎββοΈ
The Eightfold Path: work on better understanding, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.Β
πΏπ2024: MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE ππ»π€Έπ»ββοΈ
Yoga with Adriene: FLOW, a 30-day Yoga challenge (Google it and join me and thousands of others worldwide) - what Yoga teacher doesn't love to take a back seat and be guided through a practice once in a while? Resistance and weight training are keepers...
πΏπ2024: BIOHACKING βοΈπ§π₯π₯πππ€
Last year, I got caught up in obsessing over the chemicals and toxins we're pumping into our bodies and ended up down a whole other anxiogenic path. Sure, I'll still filter drinking water, but I need to refocus on the bigger picture...
Time to revisit the hundreds of health & wellbeing books and podcasts I have devoured over the past couple of decades to seek out the most accessible, low-hanging fruit. I mean, come on, there isn't one magical fix for all - diet/CBD/mushrooms/coffee/fasting/cold therapy/sauna/earthing/morning light/supplements/protein/gratitude... I mean, it's exhausting just thinking about packing it all in...
I suspect you're like me. We know what nourishes our bodies and protects our calm. Maybe we just need a nudge to listen closely to our bodies and respond with compassion πππ«Ά
Signing off, your pint-sized prop and cheerleader, sending you my love for your personal 2024 journey,
Sarita x

18 weeks to the big 5-0
Vulnerability π«£
Finally removing myself from domestic violence at 7 months pregnant left me determined to role model independence, strength and self-sufficiency to my little one and I have since muddled my way through over a decade of parenting, based on these ideals.
Now, in this arbitrary countdown to the big 5-0 π, I find myself re-evaluating all sorts of established beliefs and behaviours in pursuit of building a selfcare π§π»ββοΈ routine and becoming a better parent.
Two weeks ago, I started the programme with aspirations of feeling physically stronger πͺπΎ However, Fran's programme is about so much more. It supports full-spectrum transformation. Now, with 18 weeks to go, I am learning to ask for and accept help.
This simple but challenging shift involves revealing vulnerability and openly sharing my limitations. Really hard...
She (my π) is totally worth changing for...
20 weeks to the big 5-0
Countdown to this biggy π is all about keeping, kicking, or replacing habits so I might take on menopause, singleton & lone parenting life and ageing with more joy, confidence & strength.
Sunday 27th August 2023
Baseline check-in
Mentally & emotionally: Iβve come a long way, but obvs a WIP...
Physically: dancingππ» Yoga π§π»ββοΈ & Pilates πͺπΌ are non-negotiables
Cold hydrotherapy: I β€οΈ the exhilaration of cold showers, so: bring on the wild swimming & ice baths
Heat: The sauna (lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke, & dementia) is my phone-free, peaceful time of meditation π₯β€οΈπ§πΎββοΈ
Alcohol: Sober me feels so much calmer & secure...
So what else and where to now?
Full disclosure...
π I very rarely manage 7 hours of sleep
π₯π΄My diet is chaotic but consistently low in protein & fibre, high on sugars. I love to cook for others, but not if just for me.
π¦ I can easily get through a day on a mere 500ml of water (with other fluids from way too much oat milk)
π Iβm hot on correcting other peopleβs posture but am neglectful of my own.
π£ Average daily step count hovers between 3,000 on office days and (unless Iβm actually out for a rare walk), peaks at 8,000.
ππ»ββοΈThe free weights section of the gym intimidates me, and I am going to have to start with the lowest weights...

WEEK ONE & itβs game on πͺπΎπ
EMBRACING CHANGE at a time of rising costs & anxiety levels...
Not a complete change, though... I will still pursue my goal of bringing low/no cost healing & wellbeing nuggets to you, my love. (For now, do dip back into the 100+ free 30-minute Youtube classes - www.youtube.com/). I have streamlined weekly group classes β this is temporary while I settle into my new routine. DM to reserve a spot/join a waitlist πβ¨οΈ
Today, I re-enter the conventional workplace, part-time, and rather than dilute my passion for wellbeing, let's see if I can put into practice:
ο Positive morning ritualsβ¨οΈ
ο Nourishing food, hydrationπ₯
ο Boundaries, connection π€
ο Acts of service & kindness π₯°
ο Challenge, accomplishment πͺπΎ
ο Work-life balance βοΈ
ο Health shocks: heat/cold, fasting π₯βοΈ
ο Calm evening, reading & meditationπ§π»ββοΈ
ο Consistent bedtimeπ€
So, here I am. Tues 18 July 2023
6am Straight on the mat for 3 x sun salutations π§π»ββοΈβοΈ
6.15am Shower - turn cold last 60 secsπ§βοΈ
6.25am Dressed, thanks to π₯° for revamping a neglected, non-workout wardrobe πβοΈ
6.35am Travel cup: London Nootropics βZenβ adaptogenic coffee (CBD & Ashwagandha)βοΈβοΈ
6.40am Smoothie: frozen banana, dates, cacao nibs, mixed seeds & Huel complete meal powder (40g protein) & dairy-free milk πβοΈ
So far so good. I think I'm ready...
7am I am heading out, out of my comfort zone, feeling like a nervous girl heading to a new school, I inhale deeply... hold... count my significant blessings... and exhale with a smile.
It's a new day. Let's do this!
FREE TEEN SUMMER YOGA
PLEASE SHARE & TAG β¨οΈπ§πΎββοΈ
This 5-week free class is back for the summer π₯³ courtesy of Active In The Community ππ«
For teenagers, sure, summer can be a positive time for π, relaxation π€π and family time. HOWEVER... it can also be an unsettling period of change, even conflict, disrupted routine, and a rise in screentime for distraction.
BENEFITS are numerous. Yoga can improve flexibility, strength, balance, and stamina. Teens I have taught say that it reduces their anxiety and stress, improves their concentration & confidence and even helps them sleep better.

DETAILS: a weekly, positive reset
5-6pm on MONDAYS:
24 & 31 July, 7, 14 & 21 August
Hertford Wellbeing Hub
Glenfield Ct, Hertford SG14 2HN
Open to all teens, no need to register, just turn up.
π«π§πΎββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§π»ββοΈπ§πΎββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§πΎββοΈπ§πΎββοΈπ§π»ββοΈπ§ββοΈπ§πΎββοΈπ«
EXPECT a free of charge series in a safe space of zero judgement. It is open level yoga (no prior knowledge expected), which includes guided breathwork, warrior movement flow & relaxation, and is followed by optional snacks and relaxed chat.
PLEASE ENCOURAGE any teenagers you know to join in over the summer or help them to find a yoga teacher on YouTube . I don't take myself too seriously. This is just a fun opportunity to try something new that you can add to your resume, maybe make some friends, and learn techniques for managing emotions and strengthening body and mind.
Sacred rituals β¨οΈ
The routine of washing blankets and props and my ritual of laying out safe, cosy spaces before your arrival are sacred opportunities for calm π§π»ββοΈ and positive intention that I have come to relish.
With today's pace of life, it has become more important than ever for my mental health to turn potentially mindless routines into rituals to anchor me in the now and so that I can consciously infuse whatever I am engaged in with love β€οΈ.
Whatever your calming ritual of choice may be, preparing your morning beverage βοΈ, lighting an evening candleπ―..., I hope you give yourself permission to rest your tired mind and enjoy the moment β¨οΈπ
Sending you love, always β€οΈ

π Words have the power to build or destroy, to heal or harm... what ripple effect shall we create together today? π
[Haven't seen what happens to rice when you speak to it with compassion versus cruelty? Ufff... powerful... π£]
Please, my darlings, let's choose to uplift each other with positivity instead of tearing each other down with negativity ππ
Remember, the words we speak aloud not only impact others but also shape our own thoughts and emotions.
π’ The silent words uttered in our heads not only hold us back from becoming our best selves but also rob us of our potential to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually. Do you have a recurring niggle/injury, are you stuck to a negative behavioural pattern or in a cycle of abuse? Then please read this again... π’
ππ My love, believe in yourself, know your profound worth and power, and take action towards the life you truly deserve, one compassionate thought, word or action at a time ππ.
β€οΈ Let's spread kindness and create a ripple effect of love and compassion β€οΈ.
Wtih my love and admiration,
Sarita # # # π§π»ββοΈβοΈππ
You know? I'm in need of a boost. Something big. What about you? How are you, my love?
Inspo for today from Steven Bartlett: βComfort zones are overrated. Itβs great to be comfortable, but itβs better to be challenged. And discomfort is where the magic happens. When youβre uncomfortable, youβre growing.βπͺπ½π«
So, if life begins at the end of your comfort zone, then βhello lifeβ π and letβs dust 30 years of neglect off this beaut π»
Thank you for the warm e-welcome of David Boarder, founder & conductor of the A10 orchestra πΆπ΅ (and an all-round East Herts musical legend) convening this afternoon in Ware. Iβm ready to face the fear and give this mental, emotional and physical wellbeing boost a rattle!
The WIIFM of trying something new?
WELLBEING: broader horizons & boost mental health π
CONFIDENCE: greater resilience for tackling future challenges with self-assurance and bouncing back from times of adversity and fear.
CREATIVITY: potentially identify a go-to outlet for self-expression.
OPPORTUNITIES: personal growth & a greater sense of fulfilment.
BRAIN POWER: improve cognitive function so hurrah π₯³ for memory, attention and problem-solving.
CONNECTION: wider social circle & potential community / tribe (espesh for social introverts like me!).
COORDINATION: an opportunity to develop hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity, and awareness of good postureπ§π»ββοΈ
ACCOMPLISHMENT: a super boost to self-esteem and confidence β celebrate every victory ππ₯³π«
Breath is our umbilical chord to the life force π« ππ
I rarely post about my weekend, but I am in such an elevated, happy place, I decided to share...
Today I renewed my Reiki training after a 5-year gap, this time with Reiki Master, Michael Kaufmann (I'm sure he must have been a philosopher & stand up comedian before a healer, the man is a hoot!) at the beautifully serene
One of the many takeaways still marinading away in my head is the reminder that we are inextricably linked to nature.
Our bodies are constantly on a cycle of renewal. Everything that keeps us alive is BORROWED from NATURE - the food, water, and air we consume and then eliminate...
I also got to laugh my way through today with one of my favourite humans... as if we needed to be reminded: Michael urged us all to keep our vibrations high by laughing and laughing a LOT!
With my love & admiration,

Thank you, Zoe, for our 30-year reunion to learn & giggle together once again π₯°π
"The body will become better at whatever you do, or don't do. If you don't move, your body will make you better at not moving. If you move, your body will allow more movement." Ido Portal, Israeli trainer who developed a fitness method inspired by Capoeira.
If you're feeling stuck and you have that nagging certainty that movement- a walk, a task needing energy, the gym... - will make you feel better, start simply by standing and walking into another room.
There, you've tackled the hardest part πͺπ»πͺπ½πͺπΏ

So..., yesterday's new journal is already full of doodles, a veritable stream of consciousness and babble of incoherent ideas... My FIRST entry, though, was a wish to resurrect a few hobbies, purely for the sake of JOY π«
Whaddaya know... the very next day I'm asked to play flute and piano duets, just for the hell of it. Joy. It was right there all the time. I just had to be open to it.
I hope you don't leave it too long to nourish your soul and add a little extra colour to life πβ€οΈπ«
