Old Harry Rocks are three chalk formations, including a stack and a stump, located at Handfast Point, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, southern England. They mark the most easterly point of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The on-site restaurant and bar has had a spruce with some new seating, new menu and drinks - including a cocktail menu.

We’ve always found the staff friendly and welcoming and they regularly have bands during the season and also offer a take away menu. Good idea to book during peak season though as very popular.

Bit of local knowledge in case you don’t know the area - a few miles down the road is The Lulworth Ranges.

The Lulworth Ranges are part of the AFV (Armoured Fighting Vehicles) Gunnery School, an important training establishment of the British Army and have been operational since 1917.

They pose no problems to your enjoyment of the stunning area although occasionally, if the wind is blowing in the right direction, you may hear some distant firing - but nothing to be alarmed about. Also some roads close at certain times but you can phone 01929 404714 to hear the latest firing times.

While there is so much to do and visit along the stunning coastline we also like to just relax and chill out in our holiday home. We love to wake up without an alarm and have breakfast looking out at the countryside. After a day of reading (and snoozing) we love nothing more than settling down in the cosy lounge with a take-away, bottle of wine and some box-sets. The TV is a smart TV, the WIFI is excellent and there is also a blu-ray player guests are welcome to use.
