Back home after a fab Sunday afternoon walk that turned into a bit of an adventure ⛰ Hope you’re all having a great weekend. Classes via zoom on as normal this week but for now I’m off to enjoy a slightly later than planned (due to the length of the walk) Sunday roast 😂

M I N D F U L M O M E N T I don’t know about you but I need this, this week. It’s been a mad one so far! Wherever you are PAUSE, Turn up the volume, Press play, And join me for a mindful moment in the mountains... What do you see? What can you hear? Take a deep breath... Maybe you can even feel the breeze on your cheeks....? Take a moment to be really present, take a moment to be mindful. And if you’re busy tomorrow and need a little break to clear your head,this will still be here for you to watch again. 🙏🙏 #mindfulmoment
Here’s a little snippet from my practice yesterday, which includes Warrior 1 and Humble Warrior which we practised in Monday night yoga a couple of weeks back. I think we might revisit those soon... Today I’m teaching a brand new Monthly Meditation Class in Gorse Covert, a couple of places have become available this morning so if you’d like to join me for some calm and stillness from 5pm you’d be very welcome, details are in the events section of my page 👌
After yesterday’s walk I though it was time to bring some energy back to my mat... Here’s how I started; three rounds of Sun Salutations followed by a short sequence of poses (not done this fast obviously) I’m not gonna lie, getting to Savasana at the end has never felt so good! #lazychristmas
⠀#SelfCareSeptember Day 19 ***Try this breathing exercise*** It’s called Salute to the Earth and is such a calming and grounding practice – perfect for a Tuesday and it’s one that I do in classes quite often. You spend as little or as long as you wish practicing as follows: Find a comfortable seated position (you can do this in a chair) Bring the hands together so that the tips of the fingers are touching, palms are facing up Inhale – lift the arms up to shoulder height Exhale – turn the palms down and move your hands back down Inhale – push the palms forward, then raise the arms up and overhead Exhale – circle the arms down alongside your body Repeat a few times, and then rest quietly in the still ness. Notice how you feel. Notice the calming effect on your mind. Notice if you feel more relaxed and grounded after only a few minutes of the practice. ⠀
#SelfCareSeptember Day 14 ***Do some yoga*** You’d expect me to say this right? But the thing about yoga…it works! Try this little sequence and see how you feel. It'll take less than 10 minutes... Inhale to tilt the hips forward, looking forward Exhale, lower the head, arch the spine Repeat this movement for a few breaths and then when you’re ready… Inhale and raise the right hand, Exhale, lower the arm and thread it underneath Repeat for a few breaths and then swap to the left side… Inhale come up to high knees raising the arms overhead Exhale sit back to childs pose and rest for 10 deep, slow breaths.
Supple Wrist Joints
***TUESDAY TIP***
We often practice this in my Monday night class as it's such a super simple movement. But it's also a great one you can do RIGHT NOW to relieve tension and keep the wrist joint supple and healthy.
Plus, when was the last time you showed your wrists some love?
Remember, practice mindfully with slow and steady movements and why not use this as an opportuity to close your eyes, tune into your breath and calm the mind...
Release tension in your neck
Often we hold a lot of stress and tension in our necks, hours of driving or desk work, poor posture or a physically demanding job.
Have a watch of this video and give this little exercise a try to release tension in your neck.
