Beautiful Chaos Art

Just some digital edits from an abstract painting on black paper.

These are for my summer uni project. The theme being home.

The initial inspiration came from a photograph I took of some fences in a garden, I'm exploring the notions of boundaries within the home prompt, and sometimes in life they can become blurred and distorted which is something I aimed to achieve within these pieces.

Been busy over last few days with this piece. Technically mixed media as I used pastels and water colour to under paint and then water soluble oils to layer over in places.

I'm really enjoying pushing water soluble oils with other mediums. The effects are endless.

The obsession with windows and colour continues.

Possibly one of my favourite pieces I've ever painted. Inspired by and their use of colour. Painting this was remarkably freeing and joyous... I also have an obsession with painting windows at the moment. Will I delve further to understand why and what they represent to me? Perhaps unless my mind drifts to another subject matter before then.

From charcoal to oils...

Had fun with this one last night. Will probably come back in a few days and tweak once dry.

Testing impasto medium for the first time. Couldn't decide what/how to test it so split an A3 page into sections and just played with what was already on the pallete in terms of colour.

Experimented with using brushes, pallete knives and scraping methods. Productive morning.

Had some paint left on the pallete that I needed to use up, also had piles of laundry to sort...

On the easel today... And probably the rest of the next week or two... This was originally an acyrilic pour I made many years ago. A few months ago I decided to get creative with it as I never really liked the original piece and this is what it became. Acrylic, spray paint, gold leaf and texture paste...

Reworking an old painting from 2017.

Decided to experiment with water mixable oils this week. Never really worked with oils aside from briefly during lock down and the traditional use of solvents wasn't really for me so they've been packed away since.

Discovering water mixable oils I decided it was time to see what they're about too, I simply love all paints and pigments too much to stick with one medium.

These have been a stressful joy to play with, once id got my head around how they behave, I allowed myself to just get lost in music and create.

The final piece here is inspired by parisienne walkways and is something I'll be developing further... Other news this week is I've had my first uni place offer!! About to be an again, approaching 40! Exciting yet terrifying times ahead!!

Anyway back to the easel I go....

Digital painting experiment

it's been a pleasure

Current work in progress. Started as a random doodle last night.

Intuitive painting with a pallette knife. No idea what this place is or if it even exists/existed. It feels French to me, but that could be because my sons just come bsck from France, not sure which direction to take this piece so shall be playing around with it digitally until the final composition comes to me.

Started a new job this week, perhaps this represents the new time restraints I'll have to create art going forward.

I cannot explain how proud of myself I am. With everything that had been going on in my personal life i still nailed the grade I was predicted. I questioned my sanity many times through the end of the year, the thought of quitting crossed my mind multiple times but I stuck with it and it was absolutely all worth it.

The intention of continuing study is still there however I have chosen to start a new job instead this year, so whilst I may not be studying art, art will always be part of who I am, and I will still be creating for myself and commissions. Thankyou to everyone who has support me over this past year. You are all amazing ❤️💜
