With effect from Thursday 7th July, we are recommending that all visitors and patients attending clinics, diagnostic tests, A&E and Urgent Treatment Centres wear a face mask or covering on arrival. This is for their own protection and for the safety of our inpatients and staff. We appreciate that not everyone is able/willing to wear a face covering but do ask that every effort is made where possible.

From today, WHH has new visitor guidelines:
✅Inpatient visiting times are 1pm-4.30pm and 6pm-8pm. (Two visitors per patient at any one time)
✅Outpatients appointments and people attending A&E can be accompanied by one person only. (Visiting is exempt in respiratory areas of our A&E department for patient and visitor safety)
✅ Face masks will be required, unless you are medically exempt
✅Do not visit if you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
✅Wash or sanitise hands regularly whilst in our hospitals
Please note that our Outpatient and Emergency Department visiting may be restricted at busy times to ensure patient safety. Also temperature checks will be completed on arrival to wards.
NHS England compiled a list of conditions or illnesses that will no longer be dealt with by prescription, following a public consultation that ran from December 2017 to March 2018. The move means patients will be asked visit pharmacies or supermarkets instead so they can find suitable over-the-counter treatments. Officials have issued a list of 35 conditions for which doctors no longer offer a prescription. But many people are unaware of this ruling and still book an appointment to see their GP just to get these standard items.

What should I do if I test positive for COVID-19?
Firstly, don’t panic! There is an increasing prevalence of COVID-19 in our community and this is not unexpected, despite how careful you may have been. Here’s an ‘at a glance guide’ if you are within 8 days or less of your due date:
1. Contact the birth suite on 01925 662334 and let them know you have tested positive
2. When you arrive at the hospital remain in your vehicle and phone the birth suite – a member of staff will come out to meet you and es**rt you to our isolation unit
3. If you are already in labour, you will be taken directly to your birth room where you will remain until you are discharged
4. If, in the very rare event, your baby needs additional support in our neonatal unit, we will transfer you to the isolation unit on ward C23
5. If you have booked a home birth please note that this should go ahead as planned - unless we experience unprecedented staff absences in which case we will need to accommodate you at the hospital (The Nest or Birth Suite)
6. Thank you for patience and understanding – we are committed to ensuring you have the very best experience while in our care while at the same time working within the constraints of an escalating pandemic.
I’ve had a few people contacting me saying they struggling to order lateral flow tests online.

Gov.uk is being updated regularly through the day to manage demand so it’s worth checking back through the day. Pharmacies are also being re-stocked regularly.
We are supporting patients to receive a visit from a loved one over the festive period. Patients can receive one visitor, for up to one hour at an allocated slot on either 25 or 26 December, which needs to be booked with the ward at least 24 hours in advance. For more information and ward contacts visit http://ow.ly/QecM50Hib1Q

Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 should only attend Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre when they can provide evidence of a recent negative PCR test.
