Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday in helping to vote for a name for our Dementia Companion Cat.
There are various methods of making life more enjoyable for people living with dementia, many of which help to manage feelings of stress, anxiety, and agitation. One of the most effective methods of doing so is through the use of a soft toy, which studies have shown has the potential to calm and soothe a person with dementia who is feeling stressed, worried or frustrated.
We asked our clients to suggest some names which you voted on! The name with the most votes was...
Cinnamon!

Our partnership with Parkinson’s UK has brought specialised training to our Care Professionals. Parkinson's is one of the fastest-growing neurological conditions, affecting 1 in 500 people in the UK.
Many families who have loved ones living with Parkinson’s may wonder if care at home is suitable.
In most cases, care at home may be suitable and can have a significant and positive impact on their wellbeing - enabling them to remain in familiar surroundings and near friends and family.
As with many diseases, uncertainty and stress can exacerbate the symptoms of Parkinson’s and therefore helping a loved one remain where they are most comfortable is paramount to controlling the condition.
At the early stages of the disease, our Care Professionals can provide emotional support, companionship and reassurance through their understanding of the condition. We carefully match every client with a Care Professional who shares similar interests to ensure a strong relationship can be formed.
As symptoms progress, our Care Professionals can support with all aspects of daily living from assistance getting dressed and ready for the day, bathing and personal care to shopping and preparing nutritious meals. In addition, our dedicated office-based team are here to support your family and tailor your loved one's Care Plan as their needs evolve.
Please get in touch with us if you are considering care at home for a loved one.

Cognitive stimulation therapy offers a ray of hope for our loved ones facing memory and thinking challenges caused by dementia. By engaging in various stimulating activities like discussions, puzzles, music, and practical tasks, they can exercise their minds and potentially slow down cognitive decline. These sessions, typically conducted in small groups by skilled professionals, aim to stimulate thinking and memory.
Our trained Care Professionals can also help support them by providing cognitive stimulation on a one-to-one basis within the comfort of home. Word or number puzzles, when incorporated into daily routines, have shown promising results in enhancing memory, thinking, and overall cognitive abilities in individuals living with dementia. What matters most is engaging in brain-stimulating activities regularly.
Please get in touch with us if you are considering care at home for a loved one. Together, let's unlock the power of cognitive stimulation, making each day brighter for those living with dementia.
