Aiden’s words ~ “My wife, myself and a small team have a dream to open a small 30 - 35 cover intimate restaurant near our home town in Cheshire. We have found a suitable site that is Grade 2 listed building in Knutsford, Cheshire. We have a small pot of money but we need your help to raise the funds to make our dream come true and help bring this beautiful building back to life.”

Last week, Manchester Airport was reported to have had its busiest day of the summer, with 111,000 passengers passing through on 23 August, jetting off to destinations including Palma, Dublin, Amsterdam and Dubai.

And this was just the footfall on one day, in one airport alone. In Newcastle, over 11,000 passengers were expected per day from Friday to Monday over the summer. And in the East Midlands, 19,400 passengers were booked for its busiest date in July.

Considering this with design in mind, we were keen to find out more about how the communal settings within airports are crafted to account for such a vast and diverse mix of people coming and going, especially in the summer months. And we knew just the design practice to ask. DV8 Designs were appointed to help transform and re-imagine this local historic building as part of the town’s huge regeneration plans.

Formally a traditional indoor market, the brief was to take the classic market format and transform it into something big, bold and beautiful.

We took inspiration from the European culture of social eating and drinking to create a thriving social food and beverage hub and event space for the local community.

This exciting new venue now harnesses the fun, character and magic that Southport holds as a much-loved tourist destination.

We are delighted to have been appointed to work alongside Triangle Architects with Rochdale Borough Council to consult on and design a new customer advice centre.

The multi-use advice centre will be a one stop shop for residents of the borough, primarily owner occupiers and people in the private rented sector, to access housing support initiatives and advice. The inclusive facility offers additional amenities including accessible meeting spaces, flexible-use private booths and an interactive children’s play area to create a welcoming and safe environment for families.

We are privileged to be helping to bring to life this new vision for Rochdale Borough Council. Partnering with forward thinking organisations in delivering reimagined and welcoming spaces that truly enhances the customer and staff journey, and importantly will stand the test of time, is what we do!

We were delighted to have been approached by Northwest property development and investment company The Heaton Group to consult on and deliver a concept design of a new food hall at the iconic Eckersley Mills £200m regeneration and transformative project near the heart of Wigan and within the Pier Quarter area.

Working alongside their master planning architectural practice, Manchester based Horizon | fletcher - rae, our brief was to design an economically sustainable food and beverage concept that would be at the heart of the development project with a multi operational food hall and micro-brewery operation to be housed within the ground floor of the mill.

DV8 are delighted to have been reappointed by Aspire Airport Lounges on this £1.2million investment at Belfast City Airport. Aspire are Europe's largest brand of airport lounge and serve over 7 million customers worldwide.

We are pleased to be able to share a 'sneak peak' of what's in store for the new lounge and share our inspiration. Design intent was to create a truly premium lounge service in line with the Aspire vision, whilst also integrating the unique geographical characteristics of Belfast and the surrounding region.

"With the aim of stimulating the senses, the refurbished lounge will incorporate a blend of tile and slatted curved screens, plush upholstery design seating, and enclosed private booths for additional privacy.

"The use of feature LED lighting inspired by the Giant’s Causeway will evoke a strong sense of locality, while warm colours will conjure a feeling of relaxation and rest." Aspire Airport Lounges.

The refurbished Aspire Lounge will open at Belfast City Airport later this year.
