Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing women out there! We still have a long way to go when it comes to equality, but we’re on our way to building a better future for us all 💪🏼

🦸‍♀️ Celebrating International Women’s Day.
Today isn’t about discounts for pink trainers or throwing around hashtags. Few are talking about what it’s really about.

It’s about striving for a world where every woman and girl has equality, safety, dignity and a life free of violence and oppression with equal pay & fairer representation.

Key facts:

🔺Est. 1.6million women experience domestic abuse each year in the UK (ONS).
🔺200 million girls are forced into marriage around the world each year before the age of 15 (UNICEF)
🔺70% of casualties during Israel’s war in Gaza (currently 29,000 deaths) are women & children.
🔺Only 25% of national parliamentarians worldwide are women (UN Women)
🔺70% of the worlds poor are women (UN)
🔺130 million girls worldwide are out of school UNESCO)

The figures are shocking & show how far we have to go.

I’ve been so privileged to have been surrounded / supported / loved by incredible women my entire life.

Sometimes I like to spend my Friday evenings having a practice on mannequin bride 👰🏼‍♀️

Sometimes you get to do a job that you come away from, with more than just feeling of the honour that you get when you have been part of someone’s big day. I absolutely love working in the wedding industry because you always get that special feeling that your bride has trusted you to be part of their special morning, but in the commercial world you don’t always get that feeling and you just come away with the enjoyment that you’ve spent another day doing a job that you love. But this one was extra special to me.

My eldest son is a massive fan of Manchester United, so back in 2022 after 2 days of shooting for Konami I sat in my car and called him to ask him who his favourite number 10 was. I then told him that I’d just been working with his hero, Marcus Rashford. He didn’t believe me 😂.

But that feeling of pride that I’d achieved a point in my career where I got to work with my son’s hero, hit me like a ton of bricks and it’s a feeling that I will hold onto forever. I sobbed happy tears in my car before I went home.

This particular job made me realise that I don’t just do my job for self gratification and fulfilment, but there’s also a massive element of it that I do to make my children proud!

Posted • .kelly The one big change I made in my business in 2022 was colour. True colour was important to the way I shoot and what my clients received in their galleries. There was only ever one colour that I gravitated to but for so many years, I couldn’t seem to work out what it was. Only when I saw it achieved well, it blew me away.

In March 2022 I worked with after becoming frustrated with my colours…I almost had it. I could achieve it every now and then. However I wanted to achieve it every time. I wanted all my clients to have it. He worked his magic by finding out what exactly it was.

Early 2023 I began to work on my branding. Emmy Shoots was changing. .co pulled colours into my brand without my even telling her I needed it. I remember the moment it clicked and thought, “Dear Lord, she got me, she knows me better than I even know myself”. Jemma you absolute genius. P.S I can’t wait to shoot your wedding THIS year.

As you can probably tell, the colour I gravitated to all those years ago, was Yellow.

The reason? It’s the colour of light. And cameras won’t work without light. That seems like a simple idea but trust me, it’s a difficult concept to get around when our eyes see different than a digital or an analogue camera.

Yellow is the colour of light. We see it most at sunset and sunrise…a sliver of time when the suns rays are scattered across the earth and take just that little bit longer to get to us. It doesn’t happen every morning or every evening. However when we do, it’s magic. And I’m ready to photograph it…and you…in all its glory. It’s why we call it golden.

Bookings are subject to a minimum wedding day services booking amount of £200.00 within 25 miles of my WA5 base or £250.00 outside of the 25 mile radius. £100.00 deposit is required to book your date firm in my diary. All quotes are provided via email and invoices and receipts are issued in relation to all payments. Trials are done at Coven Beauty Salon & Academy in Warrington.
