🎉On January 28, Data protection day is celebrated.

On this day, we would like to remind you about ISO 27001 certification.

✅ ISO 27001 is not just a certification; it's a comprehensive framework that empowers organizations to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve an Information Security Management System (ISMS). This globally recognized standard provides a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
✅ The digital landscape is a dynamic and ever-shifting terrain, with cyber threats evolving at an unprecedented pace. From sophisticated phishing attacks to ransomware exploits, organizations are constantly under siege. ISO 27001 serves as a proactive defense mechanism, enabling companies to identify and mitigate risks before they materialize. By implementing a robust ISMS, organizations can be one step ahead of fraudsters' attempts to do harm.

💡 In the pursuit of a greener and more sustainable energy future, the European Union (EU) has taken significant strides by introducing the Renewable Energy Directive recast (RED II). The Sustainable REsources Verification Scheme (SURE) is one of the voluntary verification schemes for solid and gaseous biofuels that meet the requirements of the RED II Directive. SURE-EU sets stringent criteria to ensure that biomass feedstocks meet sustainability and environmental requirements, thereby fostering responsible sourcing and production practices in the bioenergy sector.
✅ The primary goal of the SURE-EU verification scheme is to certify the sustainability of resources involved in the production of biofuels, bio-based solid fuels, and biomass fuels. To achieve this, the scheme focuses on the entire supply chain, emphasizing the need for sustainability verification from raw material extraction to the final bioenergy product. This comprehensive approach aligns with the EU's commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy practices.

💡 The European Union Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) entered into force on 29 June 2023, with new provisions applying from 30 December 2024, marking a major milestone in global efforts to combat deforestation. This regulation aims to ensure that products placed on the EU market do not contribute to deforestation and environmental degradation.
✅ In this journey toward sustainability, two prominent organizations, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), have announced that they are developing tools to assist companies in adapting to the EUDR rules.

🎉 BM Certification has always been dedicated to advancing the commitment of industries towards sustainability, responsible sourcing, and carbon-neutral operations. Today, we are honored and privileged to announce our latest accomplishment that strongly underscores this commitment: our official recognition by the Bundesamt für Wald (Federal Office for Forests) and Agrarmarkt Austria (Agricultural Market Austria) to issue the SURE (SUstainable REsources Verification Scheme) and ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification in Austria.

🌿 Agri-based materials are seeing an upswing in industrial applications due to their eco-friendly nature, biodegradability, and diverse potential in multiple sectors. By bringing ISCC and SURE certifications to the agri-based industry in Austria, BM Certification aims to ensure that the raw materials and processes used in the production are in strict alignment with international sustainability standards.

🌿 Similarly, forest-based materials, which have been the backbone of numerous industries for centuries, demand rigorous sustainability practices to prevent deforestation, ensure biodiversity, and foster responsible forest management. With our capability to issue certifications in this sector, businesses can reassure stakeholders, partners, and consumers that their forest-derived products are sourced responsibly and contribute positively to the environment.

💡 In an era dominated by sustainability and environmental consciousness, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) stands out as a critical tool for modern businesses. LCA offers an in-depth analysis of the environmental repercussions associated with every stage of a product’s life, spanning from raw material extraction, to the use of the product and to end-of-life disposal.

✅ This holistic perspective on environmental impact grants businesses a comprehensive view into areas like resource depletion, carbon footprints, water usage, and waste generation. Such detailed analysis pave the way for improved product design and development. Companies can now pinpoint and refine areas with significant environmental impact, adopt sustainable materials, and fine-tune production methodologies to create products that are both eco-friendly and cost-effective.

💡 The complexities of maintaining a safe and hygienic food environment extend beyond the realms of food science and management alone. It delves deep into the fabric of social sciences, exploring the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of those involved in its production and distribution. In essence, Food Safety and Quality Culture is a fascinating intersection of Food Safety, Food Science, and Social Sciences.

💡 The inception of a formalized food safety & culture system traces its roots back to the development of food safety management systems, particularly the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system. Birthed from the collaborative efforts of food manufacturing industry and the US NASA manned space program in the 1960s and 1970s, the HACCP system quickly established itself as an efficient, cost-effective method for the World Health Organization (WHO) to mitigate foodborne illnesses. Its perceived effectiveness led many governments to view its implementation as a cure-all for food safety issues.

💡 The EU Taxonomy regulation outlines a framework for the classification of "green" or "sustainable" economic activities conducted within the EU. Previously, there was no clear definition of what constituted environmentally friendly or sustainable economic activity. However, with the EU Taxonomy regulation, a transparent framework has been established to define sustainability, precisely determining when a company operates in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. This enables companies to stand out positively compared to their competitors, potentially attracting higher investments.

🎉 Today is World Food Safety Day, this year attention draw attention to food standards.

💡 Foodborne diseases affect 1 in 10 people worldwide each year, and food standards help to ensure what food we eat is safe, this is why theme for food safety day this year is - Food standards save lives.

🍎 Foodborne illnesses represent a substantial menace to public health, leading to countless illnesses and even fatalities worldwide on an annual basis. In this regard, food standards function as preventive measures by instituting stringent regulations for the handling, storage, processing, and preparation of food. These standards necessitate businesses to adhere to proper hygiene practices, meticulously monitor and manage critical control points, and implement robust food safety management systems. Through compliance with these standards, businesses can curtail the risk of contamination, microbial proliferation, and the dissemination of foodborne pathogens, thereby effectively preventing illnesses and saving lives.

💡 Reducing carbon emissions has become a top priority for many companies and individuals around the world. One of the ways to measure and manage carbon emissions is through carbon footprint certification. Carbon footprint certification is the process of quantifying the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by an individual or organization, and verifying that they have taken steps to reduce those emissions.

BM Certification offers verification of carbon footprint calculations according to various internationally recognized schemes, such as:
🌳 Corporate Carbon Footprint Verification – ISO 14064-1 (GHG Protocol, PAS 2060)
🌳 Product Carbon Footprint Verification (ISO 14067, PAS 2050)
🌳 Sustainability Report Verification (GRI standard)
🌳 ISO 20121 Sustainable Events Verification
🌳 CDP Water & Carbon Verification – Carbon Disclosure Verification
🌳 ISO 14046 Water Footprint Verification

✅ The verification of carbon footprint schemes is important because it ensures that the reported carbon footprint of a product, service, or organization is accurate and credible.
✅ Verification helps to establish trust in the accuracy of the carbon footprint calculation and the associated claims made by the organization. It also provides assurance to stakeholders, such as customers, investors, and regulators, that the organization is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and is taking responsible steps to address its environmental impact.
