Oakham Farm - Loxley

It’s good to have the boys home and be prepping them to go out with the girls, but also highlights how quickly the last year has flown by. Christmas will be here before we know it and then it’ll be lambing time!

Despite all the rain, we’ve had some fields topped and started the hedge cutting. Makes parts of the farm look really smart, now need to work on tidying up the rest 😂😴

So glad we have friendly rams when you have to walk them down the road to load them to bring them home.

There’s an inch of water in my tack room 😔 that’s enough rain for this week!

Safe to say the only animals enjoying themselves today is the ducks!

Had a realisation this week that it’s nearly time for the tups/rams to go out with the ewes, and I’ve barely sold any of last years lambs yet 🙈. Operation lambs away is a go this week! Clean bums all round and worming anything that needs it. Weighing and tagging ready for Monday 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

P.S I got bitten by a lamb whilst trying to check its back teeth 🙈

Appreciating the office view while there’s still a glimpse of summer!

Feeling sorry for myself. Was just rescuing a lamb from the brambles and something stung the back of my neck.

Early start and busy morning at the market breeding sale. Sold some homebred ewes and happy with how they did. Back home to let the puppies have a run round before the rain. Forgot to take any photos as was working!

Happy to have got a rosette at a very big show against strong competition with some of my homebred ewes.

That’s the girls safely here and settled at Moreton Show. Time for a wonder!

Devastated to say we lost little Parsnip tonight, after what be believe was an incident with one of the other goats. He was such a little character he will be greatly missed 💔

Doug’s been saying he wants some runner ducks for ages so I didn’t have to sneak these in 😂

Today’s purchase takes me up to 6 Ducks, 18 Quail and 21 Chickens. Think my hobby might be getting a little out of hand 😂. Luckily Doug hasn’t noticed 😂

Happy Quail now they’ve been moved outside. Hopefully we’ll get some eggs once they are old enough!

Been working away from the farm most of today. Had good intentions of being productive when I got home, then I picked up a puppy and she fell asleep on me so that went out the window 😂🙈🤷🏻‍♀️

Cottage cleaned now for some show prep before tomorrow. This is Fools Delight, as far as I know she has never been on a trimming stand, but has just stood like a dream.
