This Diabetes Week, we're raising awareness of the importance of regular sight tests in detecting signs of underlying health conditions, such as diabetes.
With sight-related complications as a result of the condition sometimes leading to damage to the retina (retinopathy), sight tests can be crucial in avoiding preventable sight loss and safeguarding vision.

"Computer spectacles are for screen work - and have no other use". This is a persistent myth, but it doesn't do computer spectacles justice. They can do much more than support our eyes in everyday office life: The glasses enable better recognition of details in the extended near range, which reading glasses, for example, can only do to a limited extent. Our Rodenstock computer spectacles can be individually adapted to typical work distances and eye movements – with larger viewing ranges exactly where it matters to you. The larger field of vision supports an ergonomic head and body posture and guarantees comfortable and fatigue-free vision. Whether you are reading, crafting, checking emails or delivering an important presentation: our computer spectacles with Ergo® near comfort lenses offer brilliant vision for fatigue free near distance vision at work and for your hobbies.
Eye diseases, such as glaucoma, often don’t show symptoms before it’s too late. More than 50% of vision loss can be avoided with timely diagnosis.*
Eye Care Check can help detect anomalies in the eye that may show early indications of eye disease, diabetes, or heart disease. Schedule your Eye Care Check now at your nearest Rodenstock partner optician.
Please note that the availability of the Eye Care Check service may vary by market.

With a special lens design, our MyCon™ lenses for nearsighted children create sharp focus vision while they can ensure that myopia in children does not progress uncontrollably. The lenses are based on a lens technology with proven effectiveness from an independent external long-term clinical study* and can be applied to any child from the first diopter, even preventively.

Having a tidy up, would anyone like a Land Rover poster before it goes in the recycling bin?
Not a lot of use to us as it doesn't actually show any Land Rover spectacle frames.
February is Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) month.
Macular disease is the leading cause of sight impairment in the UK, affecting approximately 300 people every day, usually over the age of 55.
With AMD people often find it challenging to read or recognise faces, athough peripheral (side) vision remains largely unaffected.
Thankfully, advances in technology, such as eye-scanning machines in opticians, lead to early detection and treatment.

We will continue to offer this service, so that the Charities benefit from your goodwill.

By law, all contact lenses (including novelty lenses) must be supplied by, or under the supervision of, a registered optometrist, dispensing optician or doctor. Contact lenses are not simply ‘fancy dress’, they are classed as medical devices, even if they don’t correct your vision and are worn just for fun.
Professional advice on wearing & caring for contact lenses is vital to guard against allergic reactions, eye damage & potential sight loss.
Visit your local high street opticians for spooky lenses that won’t harm your sight on fright night!
With the spooky season around the corner, don't forget to remind you patients about the risks associated with wearing novelty contact lenses.
