You won’t believe what was wrong with this Golf! 🚗

After another garage had the owner spend a ton of money 💸 without fixing the issue, it came to us. We got straight to work diagnosing the problem, after several hours fault finding, scoping and testing 🔧 we found out the starter motor had an internal short causing the crank signal to be completely distorted from interference and isolating components until turning the engine over without the starter motor gave a clear signal. Once that issue was sorted we identified a permanent cam sensor fault but the crank sensor fault had gone. Unplugging the newly replaced non gen cam sensor from the other garage meant it fired up on the second cycle every time.

After we fitted a new starter motor and genuine crank sensor, it started right up on the button every time! 🔥 Sounds simple, but it took hours to diagnose the problem before replacing anything. Crazy how one issue can cause so many failures! 😅

This Audi rolled into Alcomoto needing a timing belt change. We dove right in, stripped it down, locked the timing, and swapped out the old belt for a brand-new Audi one. Now, it’s running perfectly!

Not all engines can be saved. This car came in with a head gasket failure, so we got straight to work. While the valves were intact, we found severe corrosion around the piston linings. This prevented a proper seal, meaning a head gasket replacement would just fail again. Unfortunately, this engine is too worn out to fix.
