Health care professionals often talk about grounding techniques. But what does it mean and how does it work?
Grounding techniques work by “grounding” you in the present moment and pulling you away from intrusive thoughts or feelings. This refers not only to having your “feet on the ground” but also your “mind on the ground.” When you turn your attention away from thoughts, memories, or worries, you can refocus on the present moment.

Happy . Here's how best to support those of us who are disabled.
Actively listen and learn about the experiences of disabled people
Recognise that not all disabilities are visible.
Advocate for accessibility and inclusion in all environments
Ask how you can support before trying to help
Challenge ableism. Stand against stereotypes, discriminatory practices and misinformation.
Keep going! Being an ally to the 1 in 5 of us who are disabled is an ongoing process of learning, listening, and taking action.

LGBT+ History Month is marked across the UK throughout February as an opportunity to connect and reflect on the past and present of the LGBT+ Community, celebrate LGBT+ culture and progress towards equality over time, and to explore what the lessons of history can teach us for the future.
Over the month we'll be showcasing some of our favourite LGBTQ+ Non-Fiction and Fiction titles.
Today we recommend reading:
🌈Page Boy a memoir by Elliot Page
🌈Not My Father's Son by Alan Cu***ng
🌈 In Their Shoes by Jamie Windust
🌈 Moab is my washpot by Stephen Fry
🌈 All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson
🌈 Oh Miriam by Miriam Margoyles
All of these titles are available across Libraries West and can be requested for just £1.20 from your local Somerset Library
Lisa would like to thank everyone for their support in her fundraising and the great response it's already received!
Already 75% of reaching her target for this much needed cause.
We would also like to give a big thank you to Mark Oswald our Managing Director of Raven Support for his generous support as always.
Mind in Somerset
One year ago today we picked up Bonnie from an impossible situation for all involved. Our Registered Manager Lisa took it upon herself to take her home for a long weekend as a 'foster home'.
Lisa fell in love and that long weekend turned into a forever home.
Bonnie has become a team member of Raven Support loved by all the staff and her wonderful owner Lisa.
Help support our wonderful Registered Manager Lisa and her beautiful dog Bonnie raising funds by walking 100 miles in March for Mind. A charity very close to her heart personally and professionally.
Any donations will be greatly received.
