Independent Support provides support for parent/carers and young people going through an Education Health and Care needs assessment (EHCP)

Supporting parents/carers and young people through the new SEND reforms

Between September 2014 and 2016 the Department for Education has made funding available to provide specialist individual support to parent/carers and young people who are involved in an Education, Health and Care(EHC) Needs Assessment and the process of developing and EHC plan

Who will recieve help? Parent/carers of children being assessed for an Education, Health and Care Plan(EHCP)

Parent/Carers of children with a statement transfering to an EHCP

Young people with a Learning Disability Assessment(139a) transfering to an EHCP

What support will you receive? A named contact throughout the assessment and planning process

Support to help you understand the Local offer and provide information about personal budgets

Practical support regarding the information required for the EHCP

Help to ensure your views are reflected in the EHCP

Support to complete a one page profile

Signposting to Information, advice and support services across education, health and social care
