Here at AYC we offer exclusive bonuses!

Did you know, if you start working for one of North Somerset Council’s strategic domiciliary care providers, providing home care for adults, you’ll be eligible for a bonus payment.

All you have to do is successfully apply for a care job with one of our commissioned providers and work for them for six months.

You’ll then receive a bonus payment worth your average weekly pay, calculated over the previous six months (excluding any mileage claims).

We have really enjoyed the opportunity to have work experience students, we've had them come and visit our office and find out about all of our teams and services.

It's been a great opportunity to celebrate our incredible sector and inspire future generations.

That's a wrap on this years work experience placements!

We've hosted seven students over the last few months, ranging from Year 10 and 11 school students, Year 12 and 13 sixth form and college students, and degree students.

Each student has been out to visit and help out at different services within the adult social care sector in North Somerset.

It's been fantastic to give students the opportunity to see just how varied the sector is.

Thank you to everyone involved, including local care providers, voluntary organisations, internal teams within adult social services, and of course our students!

Work Experience Visits!

We have been working with Proud To Care North Somerset to provide an insightful afternoon at our office for work experience students.

Having the chance to inspire the younger generation who have shown an interest in the Health & Social Care sector is really important to us.

We have had extremely positive feedback from the students that have spent time with us, getting to know the services we offer and the work we do ...

🚲⚡ Electric Bikes! ⚡🚲

Here at AYC we offer the use of a company electric bike to carers. There are so many benefits of being able to supply the E bikes.

- No car? No problem!
- It's great exercise
- The bikes are more environmentally friendly than a car

John one of our bike riding Adult Care Workers had this to say about riding:

"Before I started working for AYC I was diagnosed with AF and a few other age related health issues. I was told by the doctor to exercise more, so having the use of the ebike has really helped improve my health, I don't get stuck in traffic jams and I keep my tan topped up too!

It can get a bit cold and wet in the winter but I have a poncho supplied by AYC that may come into use."

💙 July Induction 💙

Our new team members have just completed the first day of their 5 day induction with us.

It's a great way to start your career here at AYC, you will get to meet new, like minded people and learn new skills and knowledge to prepare you for working in the community.

It's so inspiring to see 9 people on this month's induction, knowing that we can care for more people is great! We also have 1 more joining us tomorrow.

Did you know...last year, we started a service to help people with dementia and prevent unnecessary hospital and care home admissions? 💜

Our dementia wrap-around care team works closely with local hospitals, nursing and therapy colleagues, and social workers. It's the first time we've taken referrals for care and support from such a wide range of partners.

Over a six-month period in 2023, we supported 29 people. Of those, 21 people were able to stay at home during times of ill health instead of being admitted to a care home or hospital. Eight people were discharged from the hospital back home, meaning they didn't have to go to a care home.

We've received positive feedback from people who've used our service. Thanks to additional funding, we can continue and improve this wrap-around care, making a significant difference for people living with dementia and their carers 🙏

Access Your Care is proud to announce our newly formed team of dementia specialists, supporting adults living with dementia in our local community.

We are looking for compassionate, highly motivated people with amazing communication skills and who work well under pressure to help us in providing the highest quality care for those living with dementia.

As a Dementia Care Worker, you will be part of a specialist team of care professionals, working with clients who are at different stages, from newly diagnosed to the advanced stages of dementia. You will need to be kind, compassionate, have a lot of patience and a good understanding of dementia and the various stages of it.

You will be providing support to clients, working with many different public and health professionals ensuring that our clients wellbeing is always accounted for. You will have a level of flexibility with call durations based on individual needs and you will have ongoing support from your line managers.

You will be provided with full training and additional dementia training to carry out your duties effectively. This job will involve assisting with personal care.

You will be working shifts between 07:00 and 22:30 based on a rota, weekend work is required, you will be working one in every two weekends.

What we would like from you;
- Previous knowledge and experience in Health & Social Care
- A passion for working with people living with dementia
- Excellent communication skills
- A natural compassionate nature and patience
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle

What a treat when it's hot!

A massive congratulations to Ashleigh, one of our Adult Care Workers who has achieved a distinction in her level 3 in Health and Social Care through T2 group. Her hard work has really paid off and we are extremely proud!

Ashleigh had this to say about her achievement:

"This is a huge achievement, I would not of been able to of completed this if it was not for the the support of my team, my family and my work family at AYC. They have all been there throughout this journey, including the days I found tough and now to celebrate with me at the end.

I am especially grateful to Wendy and Carolyn for encouraging me to continue my development, I look forward to my next qualification and the opportunities that may arise.

I am looking forward to the future and what may come next!"

It was great to have Aguet one of the Health and Wellbeing Officers at North Somerset Council visit our office recently.

As members of the Healthy Workplaces program we are working towards achieving a bronze award and this visit was a good opportunity to tell Aguet about our company wellbeing vision and the strategy we are putting in place.
