Le Violon d’Ingres (1924) by Man Ray features a woman’s back superimposed with a violin’s f-holes. This photo was sold for a whopping $12.4 million in 2022 making it the most expensive photograph ever sold! The print is unique because it is regarded as an authentic photographic reproduction. Also, experts in photography believe it has more worth because it was created around the same time as the related negative.

In the meantime the photo on wood in the first picture costs £39 and that includes the stand! 😁

It’s okay!

I’ve returned from maternity leave that lasted for 11 months. It was HARD to say the least. But what put my mind at ease is the realisation that IT’S OKAY to be scared, it’s okay to have mom’s guilt and it’s okay to take it slow.

It’s also okay to talk about it. Sometimes expectations from moms returning from maternity leave are unrealistic. Are we meant to feel happy to take a “break” from our babies and reconnect with the world? I feel like that’s how my co-workers expect me to feel but the truth is that there isn’t a minute in a day that I don’t think about my little boy. My heart is with him 100% of my time. And it’s OKAY.

I am sad to say that it’s very likely that I won’t be able to offer this product anymore, at least not in the foreseeable future. The slices I use for it are mainly sold in florist and wedding shops, which means that they are not in demand at the moment and have been discontinued across all UK websites. I am trying to find alternative suppliers and exploring importing them from overseas but if I don’t succeed then this product will be removed from my list until the next wedding season at best. I still have a couple in stock and they will be sold on a first come first serve basis. I will keep you posted.

Why do I say that the plaques I sell are unique?

Because they are 🙃 Surely you can find other sellers on Etsy or other private websites where you can get your photo printed on wood, I didn’t reinvent the wheel here.

BUT try and find it with a resin finish - that’s gonna be hard. You can certainly find articles and videos on how to make one yourself but you won’t find another seller who will make one for you.

Apart from that I spend a certain amount of time preparing each photo for printing because I know the transformations that happen to photos when they are transferred onto wood (perhaps I should write a post about it or make a reel to show you what it is that I do). I want each piece to be perfect for all my customers. Cause that’s what you get when you buy from small businesses😌

Will a well-known printing company adjust the lighting on your photos before printing them on wood? I doubt that 😁

It’s dangerous!

Epoxy resin in its liquid form is a toxic substance that may cause skin irritation and respiratory problems if not handled properly. The things I do for my beloved customers 😅❤️

However, once the epoxy is fully cured it is no longer toxic and is safe to use. I advise to keep it away from direct sunshine as it may yellow and heat as it may damage it. You can wipe the dust off of it with a damp cloth.

I must admit…

I don’t believe in superstitions 🤷‍♀️ I grew up in a society where:

🔹You have to look in the mirror 🪞if you left home and then had to return cause you forgot something (you’ll have bad luck if you don’t)
🔹You need to knock on wood 🪵 not to jinx something (this one is quite common I think)
🔹You’ll have bad luck if a black cat crosses your path 🐈‍⬛

Now that last one may sound funny but I actually saw people changing their route because of that😁 I myself feel sorry for our black furry friends, they surely don’t deserve such a bad reputation!

So let’s give these gracious creatures an extra treat this National Black Cat day❤️
