⁉️What is Profhilo and what does it do?!
'Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.
As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.'

⚠️ WARNING: This post turned into a bit on essay!! 😂
Aging.... It's an inevitable part of life, but looking your age is not!
Have a look at the diagram below - it shows how the fat distribution changes in the face as we age. Then there's bone resorption too. We also gradually lose the collagen/elastin in the skin from around 30 at 1-2% a year leading to lines and wrinkles. But we lose about 30% in the 5 years around menopause so often women can feel their age has suddenly caught up with them!
Aesthetics isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that is totally ok, but sometimes I think the perception of aesthetics is skewed by ideas about people looking 'done' or the latest trend in Russian lips or whatever it may be.
But, for example, dermal fillers in the right hands are used to subtly replace the volume and enhance the definition of your natural features to give a more youthful, brighter, rejuvenated and refreshed look.

Why?! Even in winter I hear you ask?!
🌞Yes! One study showed 24% less skin aging in people who used SPF daily compared to occasional use. Benefits were still seen in those people starting using SPF daily in their 40's and 50's.
Did you know daily use of sunscreen can improve skin clarity and texture?
So how does the sun cause signs of aging?
☀️ Collagen helps to keep skin smooth and firm. Sun exposure has many effects on the skin including depleting collagen therefore we see lines and wrinkles developing. It also affects the blood vessels and pigment producing cells which can lead to skin looking red and blotchy.
Which sunscreen?
🌞 UVB rays cause sunburn and UVA rays are responsible for skin damage that can lead to skin cancer and signs of aging.
🌞 So make sure you use at least SPF30 and make sure it has good protection against both UVA and UVB.

🍂 🍃🥶As the colder weather approaches, make sure you are looking after your skin!
Colder, harsher environments can play havoc with our skin, not to mention the central heating! This is especially the case for people who already struggle with dry skin like eczema.
These changes affect our skin barrier function making it more susceptible to environmental stressors. This can lead to dryness, redness and irritation.
Ingredients like retinoids, AHA's and BHA's have great benefits for skin, but if our skin barrier is damaged, we are less able to tolerate these.
🤔 So what to do?
1) Tweak your skincare regime:
💧Go for a gentle, hydrating cleanser
💧 Step up your moisturiser to a richer formula
💧Go gently with retinoids/AHA's/BHA's
2) Stay hydrated
💧Drink plenty of water
💧Try to keep your enviroment humidified
3) Avoid extreme temperature changes
💧 Stick to warm, short showers/baths
💧 Avoid cranking uo the heating in the car too much or sitting right next to a hot radiator
4) Don't forget your SPF!
🌞 We may not be seeing quite a much of the sunshine but it's still worth popping on your SPF when you are out and about.
