Having suffered epilepsy as a child, she entertained herself by drawing and painting.
In her teens she joined a local art group where her talent was recognised.
She then went on to illustrate postcards, magazine articles and became an illustrator for Blackie & Son Ltd.
She was most famous for her illustrations of fairies, flowers, Triptych and work for various British dioceses.
Her flower fairies were based on actual children from her sisters nursery school.
