Despite the Federal Reserve in the US cutting interest rates by 0.5%, the Bank of England took a more sober approach by leaving the interest rate on hold at 5%, with a vote of 8-1 in favour. However, it has indicated that rates should be lowered gradually over time - good news for mortgage rates and the housing market. It does mean that if we find an investment that stacks up at today's mortgage rates, then it should only improve going forward.
