We recently posted about the potential impact of new housing on our current sewage problem in Whitstable, and our conclusions that without improvements to the Swalecliffe Wastewater Treatment Works, pollution is only going to get worse. We were asked if we had any potential solutions to share and it turns out, we do...
Last year we worked with Whitstable resident Dr Julia King on a design research project, which considered ideas along the north Kent coast that would not only reduce pollution, but also give back to the community and protect nature. Julia's work on this is currently on show at the London Design Museum, however she's kindly agreed to talk to the local community about it next week.
Please join us at the Horsebridge Centre next Tuesday the 21st May for a 7pm start to hear about the ways in which we could tackle this problem putting people and planet before profit: Reimagining Sewage Infrastructure for the Benefit of Nature & the Community, with Dr Julia King.
We would love to see as many of you as possible there, including our local councillors Chris Cornell, Keith Bothwell, James Flanagan Simon Warley and Claire Turnbull, and of course Rosie Duffield MP. There will be time for a Q&A.
More information and (free) tickets on this link below (space is limited so please let us know if you sign up and then can no longer make it): https://thehorsebridge.org.uk/talks-events/reimagining-sewage-infrastructure-benefit-nature-and-communit
With many thanks to the team at the The Horsebridge Arts Centre for hosting us.
*This is a family friendly and inclusive event*
IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Long Rock reimagined to include a series of reed beds, which are natural filtration systems for waste resulting in water clean enough to create a free community pool.

Milo & Co.
Chris and I were both brought up with dogs - myself on a working farm where collies and labs were a plenty, Chris in a large family where there was always a Labrador member of the team.
Like many, we left the delights of our fellow pooches and country homes behind to pursue careers in the big smoke and have both lived in London for the last ten years.
...
Done with London and the crazy-fast pace of events, it was time to pack up our bags and start something new, something we love.
