Continuing with our club run challenges during lockdown. Today would have been our Club Championship race at the Marlow 5. An event that is hugely supported by our club. Its always great to see the streets of Marlow flooded with our white and red shirts :) So we did our own social distancing 5mile and the task was to take a photo of bridges on our route. It is surprising to see so many bridges around our area. I should point out that the team photo was taken at least year's race If you're a member of a club, have you been doing similar challenges? If you aren't a member of a club, have you set your own challenges? We'd love you to share your photos.
What a beautiful day it was today. ☀️What did you do? Today should have been the London Marathon and many members of our club were looking forward to taking part. So instead, we had a virtual marathon relay. 8 teams of 26 running a mile each with the last runner completing our 'marathon'. 2 Teams were from Datchet Dashers. This was organised via Whatsapp where we handed over the 'baton' to the next runner and recorded our time. It was a great atmosphere, really exciting, cheering each other on virtually and willing our own team to win. We had members in teams from Iraq, USA, Germany and UK. After we completed our mile we had to take a selfie, it was awesome to see photos of our members in Dasher kit and racing against the clock
Last week's 'club run' challenge was to take photos of Landmarks or things that make us smile on our regular runs. Our club members didn't disappoint. A great selection of photos to look through. You can see, we really miss our club and the club house features in a few photos. This week we have our club 5k time trial tied in with the Thames Valley 5k summer series.
What are you doing to help keep you motivated until you can run with your club or friends again?
Easter Monday is when the Beaconsfield 5 takes place. We usually have a really good turnout from the club because it is a lovely off road race. This year was no exception. Except it was cancelled due to the current social distancing rules. Although as a club we are following the rules, we still get out for our runs, individually of course. So again, we tasked our members to run a 5mile distance wearing a yellow shirt this time (because this race is organised by https://www.facebook.com/burnhamjoggersinfo)
After their run each person uploaded their selfie to the club Facebook group.
Are you still managing your runs? Post a pic below
So as a club we are abiding by the social distancing rules. But we are still running 'virtually' as a club :) Easter Friday should have been the Maidenhead 10mile race and it was one of our Club Champs for 2020. Our club members ran a 10mile route of their own and posted their photos in our club Facebook group - supporting each other as usual.
COVID-19 Notice
Coronavirus is affecting all areas of life and in the last 48 hours we have seen many major sporting events, including marathons, being postponed or cancelled.
The committee are monitoring all developments and discussing how they affect our club and what we can do to mitigate the effects.
A news item is now on the website stating that currently (and that is an important word) our Tuesday and Thursday training evenings will go ahead as advertised but please continue to visit the website and our social media platforms as any changes will be posted on all these communication channels.
The health and safety of our members is very important to us.
Run safe!

We held our Dash In The Dark last Saturday. Here are a couple of photos of the start/finish line and some of the 400 hardy runners about to take part.
For Dash in the Dark we promised you (or was that bribed you with) cake - well, I think we delivered! Well done to all those hardy souls who ran tonight. We’ve already had lots of positive comments about the event so THANK YOU
No more sleeps now until Dash in the Dark. We know it’s raining at present but focus on the 7pm forecast - only 10% chance of rain. See you later
We’re still hoping it will be dry for you tomorrow evening. Our volunteers and marshals have their instructions, final preparations are being put in place, some of us are busy baking in the kitchen and others of us are at the bakery counters. We’re excited and hope you are too. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Will this be you on Saturday? Are you running Dash in the Dark? We have boxes of these medals and we’re looking forward to handing them out. See you on Saturday at Black Park ready to dash 10k 🏃🏻🏃♂️🏃♀️
I couldn’t wait until Saturday to show you the Dash in the Dark medal so here it is *drum roll* Looking forward to seeing you all.
