Mental Health Awareness Week
#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek: Moving more for our mental health. ⚽ At Aspris, the wellbeing of our children, young people and colleagues is a top priority. This year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is moving more and we don't stop moving! We regularly encourage the children and young people across our schools, colleges and residential care homes to get involved in activities. From swimming lessons at Sketchley School, outdoor activities at our children's homes and abseiling at Arden College, everyone across Aspris contributes to a healthy mindset by using exercise as a positive tool for good mental health. 🏊

National Pet Month
𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 🐶 From dogs and cats to hedgehogs and rats, our Aspris colleagues have been sharing photos of their beloved pets to celebrate National Pet Month. We also asked a handful of colleagues to tell us how their animals have helped to further support children and young people across our services – here's what they said: "Our dog helps by encouraging students to be caring, compassionate and responsible. They enjoy taking her around the school to complete errands." 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 "She [young person] is very noticeably happier around animals, so I started to take Buddy in when he was a puppy and she was having harder days. His affect on her was amazing to watch and as he has grown over the years, the bond that they have is so lovely." 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 Thanks to everyone for sharing photos of their pets. A big round of 'ap-paws' for you all 👏

Equipping young people with a brighter future
"𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙡." 🤩 As part of World Autism Acceptance Week, we are delighted to share positive feedback from parents of the students we support across our specialist schools and colleges. Easter-themed activities across Aspris 🐰 We've had lots of Easter-themed fun across our care and education services this week. From learning the story of Easter to creating ‘egg-cellent’ decorations, the children and young people have been enjoying a range of planned activities and making happy memories.

🌟 𝗧𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 🌟 Congratulations to our wonderful team at Tor View School in Tavistock, Devon, for being recently rated as '𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱' overall and ‘𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴’ in the assessment categories ‘Behaviour and attitudes’, ‘Personal development’ and ‘Leadership and management’ by Ofsted. Throughout the inspection report, 𝗢𝗳𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹. This included: 💬 ‘Pupils shine at this happy and effective school.’ 💬 ‘They feel valued and safe because staff understand their needs and how to meet them.’ 💬 ‘Pupils behaviour is transformed at the school.’ The report continued: ‘Everyone gets on very well together. Leaders ensure that the whole community have high expectations of pupils. Parents and carers praise the school. Some say it has transformed their children’s lives.’ Feedback from parents was also further highlighted in the report: ‘Parents say that their children are supported exceptionally well. Many rightly recognise the difference made to their child’s holistic development and self-confidence. One parent said, “It is a very special school for very special pupils, if only all special schools were like this!”’ Ofsted also praised the promotion of pupils’ personal development as ‘exceptional’ and how pupils are ‘very well prepared to experience improved outcomes as adults.’ Well done to the team at Tor View School on their positive inspection and fantastic feedback from Ofsted 👏

🌟 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 🌟 Congratulations to our wonderful team at Paperbag Cottage in Hampshire for being rated '𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴' in all areas by Ofsted during their latest inspection. Throughout the inspection report, 𝗢𝗳𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. This included: ‘The staff team is dedicated to children and passionate about supporting their individual needs. As a result, children make excellent progress from their starting points.’ The report continued: ‘The quality of relationships between children and staff is exceptional… Children confide in staff and look to them for support and advice. One child rated the home ‘10 out of 10’.’ Parents of the young people supported at Paperbag Cottage also provided positive feedback which was highlighted in the report: ‘One family member said, “I had reservations about [name of child] going into care, but I am reassured by the care afforded to them in this home”.’ The report also highlighted how 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: ‘Independence work with children is undertaken to the highest standard… As a result, children are well-equipped for their futures and have positive aspirations.’ Well done to the team at Paperbag Cottage on this fantastic achievement 👏

Congratulations to our children’s homes rated 'Good' by Ofsted 👏 Following recent inspections, here are just some of the many wonderful quotes from their reports! 'The manager and staff know the children well, and providing a high quality of care is a priority in this home. Staff were observed to be interacting with children in a warm, respectful and child-centred manner. This enables children to build trusting and positive relationships with staff. One child said, “They really do care”.’ – 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 ‘Staff are dedicated and committed, and they show a genuine interest in the needs of the child. The child said, “I can talk to the staff. I get respect. They help me get to school.” Staff are good role models. This has given the child a sense of security and stability.' – 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 'Children have positive relationships with the staff who care for them, which are built on trust and affection. These relationships mean that staff provide individualised support to help children make good progress.' – 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 'Staff are mindful of the children’s complex needs, yet they remain aspirational for them. We’re over the moon with the number of nominations received in this year’s annual Aspris Awards! Congratulations to all of the stars across our teams who received a nomination – we almost tripled the number from last year, from 508 to 1,424. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues, and we can’t wait to announce our finalists in the New Year! ✨
