Introducing Erdinç…

Erdinç’s fitness journey started at the age of 11 with Judo; he won a bronze medal in Turkey’s National Championships!

From there he studied to become a personal trainer with a focus on injury prevention, giving him a strong focus on functional movement and balance, with a keen eye for correct movement.

If you haven’t tried an Erdinç class yet, you are missing out. He has a unique style - he’s calm and very funny, which completely distracts you from the hard work you are doing - and he will get you working hard 😅

Erdinç runs both reformer and mat classes on Tuesday, and is also available for private 1:1 or 2:1.

We just need to start with one small thing.

Challenge yourself to do that one small thing each day and before you know it it’ll become part of your daily routine.

It could be anything, 5 mins of concentrating on your breath, a quick stretch each morning as you get out of bed, committing to read a chapter a day, or even a squat every time you hear your kids say “Mum” - maybe best to leave that one til after the school holidays! 😂

Personally I’m aiming to do 10 proper press ups a day. Notice I’m “aiming” to do it, I’ll celebrate when I do it, but I won’t beat myself up if I don’t manage it one day - I can always start again the next day.

Just one thing, done well and done each day. It’ll soon become the beginning of great things.

Introducing Megan…

Megan is a Level 3 Certified Pilates Matwork Instructor with a background in teaching languages and dance.

She has been practicing Pilates since the 1990’s for its benefits in maintaining posture and balance, pain prevention and increased energy.

Megan loves to share the joys of the Pilates method so that others can also benefit as she has.

She is also a qualified Yoga instructor and spends her free time hiking along the Thames.

You can see Megan at the studio on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, for Mat, Reformer or Private 1:1 and 2:1 sessions.

Reformer Pilates - Same but different.

The same Pilates exercises you know and love, but on a Reformer machine.

The Reformer allows you to create resistance and/or instability with its sliding carriage and resistance springs.

Reformer Pilates is for EVERY BODY. We welcome anyone and everyone to join us in our beautiful studio in Mayford, for both Private 1:1 or 2:1 sessions, or group classes.

For the new Summer Block we have added a new weeknight reformer class to our timetable.

Becks will be teaching a Beginner/Improver class at 8pm on Monday nights. As always classes are limited to just 4 spaces, so if you would like to book your spot head online or get in touch with our reception team today.

We have blocks available to book at a reduced class rate of £30 for reformer and £17 for mat, or drop in/trial classes available at £35 for reformer and £20 for mat classes.

Introducing Virginie.

Virginie has been practicing Pilates for 15 years, and is passionate about teaching the Pilates method to increase her clients’ strength, flexibility and mobility.

Virginie is a Body Control Pilates (BCP) teacher, is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA) and holds a Level 3 certification with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).

She holds a Level 3 Mat work Pilates Teacher certification as well as -
- Introductory Reformer Course Completion (Lisa B Pilates)
- Springboard One (Lisa B Pilates academy)
- Yoga Diploma Course Level 3 - Distinction

Virginie teaches both Mat and Reformer classes, as well as offering Private 121 sessions. She also offers Restorative Pilates classes in both Mat and Reformer - the perfect option for those new to Pilates or coming back after injury.

This week one of our lovely clients came into the studio with a t-shirt that really made me smile. Sometimes we have to stop and appreciate the small things, to be present in the moment that we are in and enjoy that moment.

Thank you Chris for making me smile 🩷

When I first started teaching Pilates we were lucky if we had one male client weekly, now I am proud to say that at Pilates Body Centre we have as many men as women.

It began with men being sent by either their wives or physio’s, now I’m happy to say that men are recommending each other. Differences are being seen in regular activities like golf and the word is spreading that EVERY BODY benefits from Pilates.

We are so proud to run small bespoke studio sessions, helping everyone get the most out of their practice.

Our instructors are lovely, but also incredibly knowledgable. Our focus is always on you, your safety and your goals.

With small classes our instructors can focus on your needs, can tweak classes and positions for you to better suit your body that day, but can also ensure your safety, particularly on reformers.

Congratulations to Andi, our March Competition Winner - amazing work Andi!! 🏆

Our April challenge has been set (as demo’d above by Andi), why not have a go when you are next in the studio. You need to see how many times you can pick up a ball from the floor while standing on one leg.

I set these challenges as I believe balance is so important especially as we get older. If you give it a go every time you come in for a class or session it is going to give you a good idea of how your balance is, and give you a chance to practice and have a giggle with friends.

There is no denying the importance of breathing, but not everyone realises how important it is to help with stress.

When you are under stress, your breathing pattern inevitably changes.

When you are relaxed, you breathe through your nose slowly and evenly. Deliberately copying a relaxed breathing pattern seems to calm the nervous system, helping to -

•lower blood pressure and heart rate
•reduce levels of stress hormone in the blood
•reduce lactic acid build-up in muscle tissue
•balance levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood
•improved immune system functioning
•increased physical energy
•increased feelings of calm and wellbeing

If you do just one thing today, take time out to concentrate on your breath and feel the benefits.

Introducing Anamika.

Anamika has a very happy teaching style. She is passionate about Yoga and wants people to do it correctly with perfect alignment.

The emphasis in Anamika’s sessions are not about how flexible someone may be, but achieving and improving positions safely.

Because Yoga has been a part of her life from a child she understands the benefits different poses have on the body and happily explains the reason for each pose.

We are focused in giving every client the attention they deserve and are so proud that our client feedback reflects that.

All of our reformer classes are limited to 4 clients, and our mat classes limited to 8. No two clients are ever the same and by keeping our classes small it allows our teachers to check in with each client and offer any necessary tweaks or changes.

Our March challenge has started so come in to give it a go. Its not just good at improving your balance but it is also a great way to strengthen your feet and ankles.
Our challenge is open to all studio clients practice as much as you want.

Come and join Yana on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm for a new Beginner mat class.

All our mat classes are small groups of less than 8 people so that you can get the most out of each session.

Yana will take you through all the basic and then help you progress to a higher level.

Virginie is now running Restorative Reformer sessions as well as the Restorative Mat classes.
The Restorative Reformer class is a gentler and slow class using Reformers with towers, it is aimed at clients who are working on re/building strength and mobility to manage ongoing conditions or recovering after health/mobility set back. This class is particularly suitable for clients who are experiencing muscle fatigue and find the low floor level in Mat classes challenging.
This new class, 10am Mondays, will be starting on the 26 February and running for five weeks.
There can only be up to four people in the class so that each person gets close care and attention.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR EARLY MORNING PILATES CLASSES?

Why not start your Thursdays with one of our Reformer or Mat classes with Megan!

8am BEGINNER/IMPROVER REFORMER CLASS - with a maximum of 4 people, this session is designed for anyone who is new to Pilates, wishing to return after a break, or are still learning the Pilates movements and repertoire.
You will be introduced to the different elements our Reformers with Half Cadillacs have to offer, helping to build your strength and increase mobility, in a safe controlled environment.

9am BEGINNER MAT CLASS - these short courses are a structured programme covering all of the Pilates basics. They are ideal for anyone who is new, or wishes to refresh their Mat Pilates basics.

Megan is a qualified Pilates and Yoga Instructor with a background in teaching dance and languages. She also has many additional qualifications and training including Antenatal and Postnatal exercise, Pilates for the pelvic floor, and Chair-based exercise for the frail and elderly.

Our clients enjoy her calm style, and Megan loves to share the joys of the Pilates method so that other can benefit as she has - Megan has been practising Pilates since the 1990's for maintaining posture and balance, increased energy and prevention of pain.
