There is so much talk about Christmas, and the shops are starting to fill with Christmassy stuff.

Anyone for a slice of cake?

🍰I made this cake for my Godmother's 70th bithday last year based on an afternoon tea at Highgrove.

🍰She was all booked up for a visit to Highgrove gardens and afternoon tea. Of course with Covid it couldn't go ahead so I made her this cake instead - not quite the afternoon tea she had planned.

🍰I found photos online and used these as the bases for the cake design.

🥳I put together a party in a box (balloons, banners, a badge etc) and snook it round to her neighbours under the cover of darkness. My Godfather collected it early the next morning and surprised her with it!

On that evening we had a family zoom quiz based on her life ... and she didn't get the highest score nor did her husband🤣🤣 My parents did!

♻️ Each item that I send out has a little note on it asking you to reuse or recycle the packaging, asking you to Snap It Tag It Share It and a little thank you sticker too.

♻️But the secret is ... these have been printed on the backs of brown envelopes that my family and I receive post in and save.

♻️I don't think you would have guessed from looking at them.

Prolongs the time that the paper is in use
Reduces use of virgin materials
Saves Earths resources
Has a smaller carbon footprint
More sustainable

❤❤Double tap if you were surprised by how long it took.😮 I was - I've never actually timed myself before.

I wanted to show you the care I take so I decided to time a recent handpainted sign make and photograph the the different stages.

⚒But of course the reclaimed wood also has to be sourced, transported, taken apart, measured, sawn and sanded, tools got out, packed away and work areas cleaned. 📦Then the finished item has to be carefully packaged and taken to the post office📮 Not to mention the design time, trying out ideas, admin - all done by just one person me.

This is slow crafting. The benefits of my items are you know you are buying something which

💚can be customised
💚is kind to the environment
💚has a very small carbon footprint
💚uses materials which already exist so preserves the planets resources
