The Forensic Science team at Wolverhampton University are delighted to announce that our Forensic Science awards have been reaccredited by the Chartered Society for Forensic Sciences. This includes B.Sc (Hons) Forensic Science, B.Sc (Hons) Forensic Science with Sandwich Placement & B.Sc (Hons) Forensic Science with Foundation Year. these awards have full accreditation in the component standards for Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence, Laboratory Analysis, and Crime Scene Investigation. This continues the accreditation first awarded for Forensic Science in 2008. Wolverhampton were one of the first universities to be accredited.

In addition, we have received accreditation for BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Policing (including Sandwich Placement and Foundation Year modes of study) in component standards for Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence, and Crime Scene Investigation.

In confirming these accreditations, the Society commended us on the commitment provided by the Course Team in terms of academic and student support, as well as the delivery of new modules extending the extend the range and diversity of teaching provision. A particular commendation mentioned the "Quality Assurance" module in relation to future employment opportunities. they felt it was "rare to find this vital content presented in such depth as to devote an entire module to the topic."

We look forward to welcoming new students to our forensic awards for many years to come!

The forerunner of modern DNA profiling

in 1984, Alec Jeffreys discovered the technique of genetic fingerprinting, the analysis of DNA from samples of body tissues or fluids conducted in order to identify individuals.
