In July, the great and the good from the horticultural industry gathered in Banbury to celebrate 30 years of awarding scholarships to students studying horticulture.

Neal is now forging his career as a bedding plant grower with Arden Lea Nurseries in Lancashire.
Neal began his career working in the music industry, both performing bass guitar and working as a music agent.
In this podcast he talks with Neville Stein about what drew him into horticulture, how he re-trained at Myerscough College & University Centre and how a scholarship from the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation has helped him to realise his ambitions.

Melanie Pharaoh, studying for a Level 3 Crop Technician Apprenticeship at while working at , has been awarded a .homeandgarden .prandnews Scholarship.
Melanie has moved from a career in logistics to follow her passion and work with plants. After years spent in windowless, dusty warehouses, she knows she has made the right decision and now relishes working with nature and the seasons.
She hopes to go onto further study to enhance her horticultural knowledge. Melanie has a particular interest in sustainability and environmentally responsible growing and would like to pursue a career that has this as a focus.

Very excited and proud to be supporting Sparsholt College with their RHS - Royal Horticultural Society garden. We had a very interesting morning at their launch event last week and great to meet the students who will be working on the garden and doing all the hard work! Sparsholt College are celebrating their 125th anniversary this year and this milestone forms the basis of this year's garden. Designed by the college's own Chris Bird and Lucy Lewis, the exhibit will explore the history of plant introductions from Hampshire and the role that the college has played in the professional growth of influential horticulturists.
