Stop financial regulations from favouring large corporations

The regulations that the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) enforce are biased toward large corporations. One example is the FCA authorisation required to use the Open Banking interface which is costly, time-consuming and complicated. This excludes small business from using the interface directly.

The only cost-effective method for a small business to access their bank transactions is through more than one large corporation middle-men, like Plaid, TrueLayer, Xero or Sage. A small business might want to access their banking transactions directly without giving access to these corporations. I call upon Parliament and the Treasury Select Committee to ensure anybody can access their own banking data directly, for free and without a complicated authorisation process.

I think we've all been shocked at the sheer scale of the continued pro-Palestine marches in London, the lack of action by the Police, and the call for Israel to cease the defence of their country from genocidal terrorism. But we need to be aware of where the hatred stems from.

A good starting point is Qur'an Surah (chapter) 9 verse 29:

Those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day - even though they were given the scriptures, and who do not hold as unlawful that which Allah and His Messenger have declared to be unlawful, and who do not follow the true religion - fight against them until they pay tribute out of their hand and are utterly subdued.

The verse refers to Jews predominantly, but also Christians and anyone who isn't a Muslim. So why the dislike of Jews especially?

Muslims claim that Muhammad brought the final and dominant prophecy from God (the same god as Jews and Christians) and sought recognition from Jews (as the oldest, most established religion at the time) as such. But they did not recognise the claim. So a significant proportion of Muslims are taught from children, as part of their 5 prayers a day, to hate Jews.

Some might call that brainwashing.

Jews have been persecuted for 2500 years. Islam was founded around 1400 years ago, so you could say Muslims were a little late to the party.

With the calls for "From the river (Jordan) to the sea (Mediterranean), Palestine will be free", which essentially does not recognise the state of Israel and is a call for it to be destroyed along with every Jew in it, Islam and especially Palestine and Hamas wish to finish the job.

A few other relevant facts: Judaism was founded around 4000 years ago, Christianity 2000 years ago. There was no Jewish state until 1948 when Israel was recognised, there are 46 predominantly Muslim states. There are around 4 million Muslims in England, around 25% don't consider themselves British. The Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank haven't had a legitimate government of their own since 2009 and there has essentially been a civil war between them since Hamas took control of Gaza in 2006. The Palestinian Authority is widely considered corrupt and allegedly has support of 37% of the electorate. The leaders allegedly reside in luxury in Qatar, except for the ex-leader of Hamas Muhammad Qassem Sawalha, who lives in North London in an ex-council house he was given a substantial discount on.

I just received the attached letter from network rail detailing completely unnecessary work on a foot crossing in Malvern Link.

According to the stats, there may have been 4 public fatalities caused by railway foot crossings like this, last year in the UK, although the stats do not provide sufficient detail. In all likelihood, the number is zero. There has never been a single incident in the 20 years I have known Malvern.

So why then are we spending £30 million on completely unnecessary work, when the national debt is spiralling out of control, under the supposed 13 year Conservative rule, of £2.5 trillion, up by 0.5 trillion, or 20% in the last 3 years?

Let's not get started on the White Elephant, vanity project that was HS2 from the start. When will the government learn that they are simply not competent at procurement, because they have no comprehension of value, or cost, or contracts, or bid tactics, or accountability, being completely isolated and inexperienced of the real world.

The British public want to be treated like responsible adults, not nannied like children by an obscenely large public sector, which is run, in my opinion based on examples like these, by incompetent, unqualified fools.

Here's why heat pumps are likely NOT the answer for you without significant alterations to your home:

Heat pumps (whether air sourced or not) need a large surface area of radiators (normally underfloor heating of the whole house) and a high degree of insulation around your home to be efficient.

This is because the COP (coefficient of performance) drops as the difference in temperature between outside and your radiators increase. So you need to keep your heat pump radiators as cool as possible for maximum efficiency and to keep your electricity bill down.

A normal boiler will heat your radiators to around 60 degrees C which will rapidly heat your house, with fairly small radiators and should only need to be on for a relatively short time, a few hours.

However, you need to aim for a radiator temperature of around 24 degrees C to keep your heat pump cost effective. This means, to get the same heat output, the radiators need to be much larger, and the pump will need to be on for a lot longer, maybe even permanently.

This slow trickle of heat can easily be lost if your wall and roof insulation is poor.

The maximum coefficient of performance you are likely to see is 3, which means you get 3kW of heat output for every 1kW of electricity you put in.

So if you are being forced to install a heat pump, ask the installer what your COP is likely to be given your radiators and insulation. If they cannot tell you, they are not competent.
