Leo loved his Level 3 pyjama lesson last week!

His favourite part of the lesson was treading water (super hard with your PJ's on!) and jumping and swimming without his goggles.

Swimming is a journey, not a destination and here at Swim Academy, we learn and have fun all the way! We'll take your little one from 'happy getting their faces wet' to 'swimming 100m using 3 different strokes'!

As experts in teaching babies, toddlers and pre-school children to swim, we have this unique insight into child development and have integrated our findings into Swim Academy, our programme for 4-10 year olds.

Technically, we focus on beautiful swimming and the right technique. Our programme deconstructs each stroke in a unique way.

Pyjama Week is back!

Our Pyjama Weeks are usually the highlight of our swimmers' and teachers' year, but due to Covid and breaks in lessons, we haven't been able to hold one for a long time.

This is all about to change, with our first PJ Week in two years taking place from 14th-20th February! This means we'll invite all of our swimmers in all levels to come along to lessons in their PJ's that week.

Does your little one have no experience in the water? 💦

Don't worry because they can still attend our classes. Swim Academy provides a nurturing environment with highly qualified and trained teachers who are experts at dealing with children with little or no water experience at all.

If your child has no swimming experience then they will be placed into our Level 1 programme which is where we build confidence and teach the fundamental skills for independent swimming.

Zara and Emma wanted to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Abigail who achieved her 5m distance award in her last lesson at TruGym Kidderminster🏅

Abigail has been so close to achieving this recently, so it was wonderful to see her gain it in the first week back after the Christmas break.

She did a fantastic swim after working on her technique and having a boost of confidence recently. It was brilliant to see your focus and determination in your swimming!

It was also a special moment for our teacher Zara, seeing her daughter swim independently!

Bookings are now open to start your swimming journey in January. What better way to start the New Year than splashing into our fun-filled classes!

The New Year is the perfect time to introduce your little one to the water and begin developing their water confidence whilst you have lots of splashy FUN together.

Our classes allow you to share that special time with your children as they experience the water for the first time and learn those vital life skills. We offer classes from birth to 4 years in our pre school classes, and then classes right up to 10 years old in our Swim Academy programme.

We're feeling festive today as it's Christmas Jumper Day!

Zara was thrilled to see you swim beautifully and with confidence. We have been practising this the past few weeks and it was great to see your technique improve. Zara looks forward to you progressing to Level 2 very soon!

💦 Level 4...Let's go further! 💦

Our Level 4 swimmers have a good level of confidence in their own ability and this allows our teachers to use the teaching space in different ways, getting longer and longer swims out of the group. Together with working towards developing a strong front crawl stroke, with good style, fluidity and grace, for a swim over 25m and also 50m, we also see these swimmers providing strong swims in backstroke, with great alignment in the water, supported by a strong kick and regular arm movements.

A sound basic breaststroke should also be achieved, as well as a convincing butterfly kick. In addition to advanced sculling, surface diving and water safety skills Level Four swimmers show a confidence and competency in the water that will provide them with a solid foundation for moving into Elite Swim Academy where strokes will be further developed with more focus on technical details.

Some key learning outcomes for Level 4 are:

💦 25m Front Crawl using side breathing and over water arms
💦 50m distance Front Crawl using side breathing with underwater or over water arms
💦Can swim 5m Butterfly, using arms and including at least one breath
💦Can swim 15m Backstroke, maintaining alignment, with continuous arms
💦Has demonstrated that they understand how to perform an action for getting help

✨Wow, another super swimmer! ✨

Zara had an amazing time at our King’s Hawford pool last week and wanted to say a special well done to Level 2 swimmer Arrun!

He had a brilliant attitude and worked hard to improve his front crawl technique and back push and glides. He also did some excellent butterfly stroke practise, well done Arrun! 👏

⭐SUPER SWIMMERS Annabelle and Harry!⭐

Zara and Emma had some great lessons last week and were blown away by these amazing Swim Academy swimmers at TruGym Kidderminster.

✨ Annabelle had amazing effort in her last lesson. She listened so well to instructions and feedback, especially with her back push and glide practise which improved her rolling to breathe technique. Totally amazing! Well done Annabelle 👏🏻

✨ Harry recently joined us in Level 2 and has made a fantastic start! He always tries his best and did a really good job this week when practising his front push and glides and sculling! Zara and Emma love seeing the progress you are making every week 💦

"What is Swim Academy Level 3?"

Our Level 3 classes are all about building your child's confidence further in the water. This is the first class level where our teachers are out of the pool and teaching from poolside.

Does your little one have water confidence? 💦

By Level 2, our children are swimming 5m and lifting their head to breathe. We now work with them to build their confidence further. There are more group activities, reflecting the increased level of ability and there is less reliance on buoyancy aids such as floats and woggles.

Here are some of the learning outcomes our Level 2 swimmers achieve:

💦Can jump in from poolside safely and return to the side safely without
assistance
💦Is able to fully submerge to pick up an object
💦Has achieved an independent 5m backpaddle and front paddle swim
💦Can perform a tuck float for 5 seconds

A massive well done to superstar swimmer Alyssa from our Level 2 class at Feckenham.

This week Alyssa achieved her 10m distance award after weeks of practise! Zara was super impressed with how Alyssa responded to feedback to improve her breathing technique and alignment whilst swimming.

What a fantastic achievement! Well Done Alyssa. 👏

Level 1 - Let's Get Wet!

Our 'beginners' level, Level 1 is often the first time that children enter the pool without their parent and our whole focus is on water confidence, basic water safety and the foundation skills for independent swimming. The ratios are small to enable a rapport to build between the teacher and children - and it quickly does. There is a maximum ratio of 4 children:1 teacher for this level.

Swim Academy teaches primary-school children up to the age of 10 to swim beautifully and efficiently, as well as developing essential water safety and lifesaving skills in our close-knit class sizes.

Many of our Swim Academy students go on to swim for organised clubs and take part in competitions - we may even have some future Olympians on our hands!
