Meet the Practitioners…

Anna Lines

Anna is the Artistic Director of Worcestershire based Translucent Dance Company. Her work is highly physical and emotionally charged and explores both the strength and fragility of human existence.
Currently an MA Dance Research student at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Her research interests lie in how audience perceives meaning from dance and Raising vibration through the dancing body: processes and practice

Anna is also a dance educator and has a history of providing high quality training. Her alumni have performed all over the world with high profile contemporary dance companies including Gary Clarke Dance Company and Motion House Dance Theatre. She has taught extensively in educational establishments across the UK including Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Worcester University, Birmingham City University, Birmingham School of Speech and Drama. She has produced many full length works which have been performed all over the UK at numerous festivals and theatres including the MAC, Malvern Theatres, Worcester Swan, Milton Keynes Theatre, Birmingham International Dance Festival and U Dance Festival.

Meet the practitioners…

Libby Stant

Libby is a freelance dance artist, teacher and performer based in the West Midlands. Originally from the Isle of Wight, she began classes in ballet, modern, tap and theatre. Moving to the West Midlands instigated a shift towards Contemporary Dance, joining Translucent Dance Youth, ACE dance and Music and The Birmingham CADT scheme. Embracing this passion led to auditioning and training at Northern School for Contemporary dance for three years. She spent this time exploring improvisation, floorwork, lighting design and creative collaboration, and recently graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree. She's worked with various choreographers including Thick and Tight, HumanHood, Lea Anderson MBE, Wayne Parsons, Joseph Mercier and Imogen Reeves. Beginning her journey with Anna Lines and Translucent back in 2016, she’s excited to continue evolving alongside extremely talented and generous artists.

Shelley Eva Haden

Shelley Eva Haden, a Birmingham based dance artist was nominated in the outstanding female performance category at the 2017 National Dance Awards. Shelley graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2014 with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance Performance, having become the first-ever student to achieve 100% on the solo choreography assessment – her ‘Silver Shelter’ is now part of the school’s repertoire.

Shelley’s performance credits include Aletta Collins, Corey Baker Dance, Frauke Requardt, Gary Clarke Company, Jamaal Burkmar (Extended Play), Maxine Doyle (Punchdrunk), Neus Gil Cortés (Nua Dance), ORIANTHEATRE Dance Company, Rhiannon Faith Company (also as rehearsal director), Rosie Kay Dance Company, Southpaw Dance Company, Tamsin Fitzgerald (2Faced Dance Company).

Shelley’s work as a choreographer, educator, and movement director is wide-ranging, spanning commissions, independent projects, TV/film and opera. She most recently worked on the choreographic team for Birmingham2022 commonwealth games opening ceremony and was nominated for One Dance UK’s People’s Choice Award 2022. Other credits include ABBA, BBC Arts, Birmingham Opera Company, Channel 4, Gotts Street Park, Opera North, Royal Danish Opera, StaatsOper Berlin, Scottish Opera.

Meet the Practitioners…

Margaux Elise

Margaux Lucas is from Ellicott City, Maryland, U.S.A. She began her ballet training at a young age under the direction of Donna Pidel at The Ballet Royale Institute of Maryland. By age 11 she joined their pre-professional program, one of the first to implement the American Ballet Theater National Training Curriculum. She briefly trained with Berrend Dance Center under the direction of Patricia Berrend before continuing her studies at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, earning her BFA in contemporary ballet. Margaux has had the honor of working with many renowned choreographers and dancers including but not limited to; Robert Battle, Kirven Douthit-Boyd, Louis Gaspard, Larry Keigwin, Gelsey Kirkland, Alonzo King Lines, Alicia Graf Mack, Dwight Rhoden, Desmond Richardson, as well her amazing UNCSA faculty. She has recently moved from the United States to England, where she received her Masters of Business Administration from The University of Worcester. Margaux currently teaches at Translucent Dance Studios and is a visiting lecturer of Dance at The University of Worcester. She is so grateful to be a part of the Translucent Dance Company and is excited for her career as a professional dancer in England.
