I know this post may be divisive, but I had to post it anyway….

Because I really do believe that people often disagree, but that doesn’t mean we should avoid discussing these differences of opinion. That’s how we reach the real truth at the end of the day. We must NEVER be silenced! That is what freedom of speech and democracy means to me….

Princess Diana to me was a total inspiration and the only public figure in my life that caused me to be truly heartbroken when she died.

I remember that day as though it were yesterday. I was in bed, it was a Sunday morning and Norman came running upstairs to tell me that Diana had died in a car crash!! I was totally and utterly distraught! I couldn’t stop crying for days and days….

I had watched this young girl fall in love with a Prince. She was barely more than a child when she had that now infamous picture taken with her see through skirt leaving the nursery where she worked. I still believe she 100% married for love. She adored Prince Charles, but he was already taken tbh. But the Royal machine had her conveniently earmarked as a virgin, suitable to bear the future kings of England, and her needs as a young girl didn’t really matter to them.

I think the realisation of that dawned on Diana fairly soon after her marriage, and I watched her quickly descend into sadness, anorexia, a very traumatised young girl trapped in a loveless marriage in which she was expected to remain forever, as a “duty”.

I know there are those who would dispute this, but I look at her as a child “groomed” for a role, and then cast aside, demonised and her name blackened by those in power when she DARED fight back !

But she decided to fight back, knowing what that would cost her, and she rose from the depths of despair, she transformed her “pain into power”, she reinvented herself into a successful, attractive and much loved woman despite all the odds that were stacked against her.

For me she is totally inspirational, and symbolIc of much that we stand for.

There can be good after bad
We can survive the hardest trials
What doesn’t kill is makes us stronger

Steve Davis and Steven Hendry will be appearing here on Friday 8th July for an evening of Snooker exibitions laughs and jokes. No fewer than 13 world titles between them, the youngest ever winner and an MBE (Hendry) an OBE (Davis), we have had the best of the current players (O'Sullivan and Trump) now you can enjoy the company of argubaly the best two players in the history of the game. We are running a sweep stake on Saturday for the Grand National with all cash paid out, we are showing the race live on the big screen, we are also screening the Burnley v Leeds game (sky sports 1 12.30pm) and the West Ham v Arsenal game (BT Sport 1 12.45pm), following the Grand National will be the Man City v West Brom game (Sky sports 1 5.15pm), there will be sandwhiches laid on and they will be put out 10 minutes before the Big Race starts, its a great sporting afternoon and we will be putting on some drink offers as well as the free food, come on down and have a flutter in the great race. If national pride offends stay away tonight, its England v Germany live at 7.45pm, there will be music beforehand including your favourite football anthems. There will be a time of first and last goal sweepstake where we charge 2p per minute you draw, eg if you draw number 10 (the 10th minute) it will cost you 20p, worse case you draw 90 and that costs you £1.80. on the good side there is a prize of £40 for the first goal time and £40 for the time of last goal. Worksop family raising money for cerebral palsy son reach first milestone Thousands of pounds have been raised for a young boy with cerebral palsy who needs his house adapting so he can receive care at home.

Well done to George Elliot winner of the Snooker handicap yesterday and also to Runner up Scot Bradley, a great days Snooker and a lot of fun and good humoured Banter had by all.

Big sporting weekend Saturday and Sunday, we will be showing all the big boxing day racing and all the live football games on various channels. We are also running a snooker handicap on Sunday from 2pm anyone is welcome to play and everyone has a chance as it is an handicap. A long side the Snooker handicap we will also be running a pool competition and a Darts competition, the club is open from 10am and the comps will begin at 2pm so if you like sport there is plenty to watch and plenty to participate in, all you have to do is come on down and join the fun !!!!!!!!
