Upholstery by The Man That Can
From a recover to a total rebuild. Refurbished occasional furniture for sale.
Another lovely chair saved from the fiery furnace . . . .
Seem to be entering a yellow phase . . . . .
Thoroughly enjoyed rebuilding this Victorian piece for a lovely older client who decided to be brave in her fabric choice - hope you like it too .
Happy Sunday everyone . May I present the Cruella de Ville throne . . . . who’s brave enough for this one ? These pictures were taken at a recent craft fair , where this “stage set” formed the centre of my display .
I must add - the scary bits do remove and no puppies were harmed in the creation of this throne 😁
It’s times like these when you wish you hadn’t given all the shed elves the day off !
A condensed single case version , now with it’s very happy new owner !
Flicking back through my pics , realised I hadn’t shared this piece
Here’s the next one - a pair of beautiful chairs which were crying out for a revamp ! I thank the lovely Lena for the ‘go ahead’ on a most enjoyable job .
Hi everyone - not posted for a while, so thought I’d resume with these pics .
Recently completed after much attention to detail , at least one meltdown and the very kind help of a wonderful chap called Bryan , who helped with the logos and stencil cutting . These cases had completed 60+ years in the working service of a retired carpenter , before I set to work converting . I stuck to the agreed detailed brief , hope you like the results .
( the “Get Stoned” is a play on the surname , by the way )
As well as selling my beloved “Apothecary Mead “ themed chair to help raise funds for a very worthy cause ( more about that in a mo) , I am offering this attractive pair of antique, stripped and rebuilt, occasional chairs . The format is as before - 100% of the sale figure raised , goes to the charity .
The “cause” , titled DUMB AND DUMBER RUDE TRIP is raising funds to help the supply of PTSD trained ServiceDogs. The team ;
Squadron Leader Lawson Smith
Gunner Jack Harmer
Dog Behaviourist James Conroy
will be embarking on their mammoth uk multi stop tour , calling on as many rudely named places as their old car ( disguised as a dog) will allow .
To find out where they are visiting , what they are wearing 🙈and pics of the Dog Car , tap in on Facebook.
The chairs - greatly reduced - the first £180 offered takes the pair !
The Apothecary Mead chair is still for sale , by the way , see previous post.
Thank you for reading
Well , I have loved this chair from the moment I completed it but, it’s now time to let go - for a very worthy cause . A group of friends ( some ex servicemen) will , hopefully on the 4th of January, be embarking on a mammoth round the country drive , in a car that looks like a DOG , dressed as dogs and other characters , to raise funds for Service Dogs Uk , for PTSD assistance dogs . They will be visiting places with rude or suggestive names , the title of their quest and the name you can tap in , is
DUMB AND DUMBER RUDE TRIP , to find out more .
To hopefully boost the fundraising , this chair is now FOR SALE .
The first £300 offered secures the chair . The total amount goes to this very worthy fundraiser . Happy trip lads !
Thank you for reading .
*** if you want any more information ref this chair , please contact me or read my original post when this chair was completed , detailing the embroidery etc .
Another piece completed , just in time for the 2 day craft event this weekend at the Beonna , Bennington Church , Boston .
Finally completed this piece , a “marmite” chair I know , but I like it . . . .
With kind permission of my client , I can now post pictures of a commission undertaken in secret , created as a Christmas present for her cattle farmer husband . I have had confirmation that he “loves it”” - hope you like it too .
Well , that’s all the Christmas clutter unpacked and installed
Cats . . . . occasionally can be an upholsterer's best friend 🙈
To answer your question "has Billy been crafting" , Aunty Sue - yes , he fashioned himself a flat cap . Living in't north , he wanted to be a whippet. . .
Almost forgot to post this too !
A bit of fun created by my lovely Lady
Amid the wedding and several funerals recently , I almost forgot to post these pics of an Austrian chaise recently completed . Excellent fabric choice by client .
Finished at last and quite "chuffed" with the Mad Hatter's chair . I would love to keep it ( as with all my project pieces ) but alas , must make space to create more . . . so , yes , it is for sale ☹️
It finally begins to take shape - this has been a "back burner" project for so long . . . . . the Mad Hatter's chair . Still plenty to do including the " floating in mid air" titfer .
Certainly a Marmite piece
Once again - welcome to my world - it's a dirty job but . . . . just love it !
Handed an old decrepit chair and a pile of grain sacks by a very trusting but "outside the box" thinking client . Sort it - was the instruction . . . .
Browsing through my archive photos , i happened upon these pics of work undertaken for Jocelyn Burton , an award winning Gold/Silver Smith , based in London at the time .
Please note customer corporate logo on each piece .
An enjoyable but taxing revival of a tired , previously "tampered with" chair . Just love creating to client's wish list 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Delivered - the latest addition for the latest addition .
(Translated, the latest addition to the pile of gifts for our latest grandchild - the lovely Leo ). It is so big that he could probably sleep in it till he's six ! I apologise to the parents but this is what happens when grandad is also known as "Shed Elf"
Quite a fun project and resurrection of the first of a matching pair of chairs . . . with the kind permission of the wonderful people at Apothecary Mead . The ethos of this company and it's Mead creations , are second to none . Visit their website for more information then please "like and share" , ( not forgetting me , of course !) .
Look what I found ! Started stripping the first chair and discovered the original panel underneath - undamaged ! Unfortunately the seat , when exposed , was in bits . Hopefully find some more on the next one . . .
Fa la la la , fa la la la , happy birthday to ME !
