It is has been an absolute pleasure to play a small part of so many peoples journeys over the past year or so and to witness the growth of everyone has been amazing.

Was great to have the club down at the HQ yesterday👏

Hi paddy,

The session focused on upper and lower body power. Utilising lateral and bilateral movements which are used routinely in swimming, cycling and running mechanisms. It was followed off by a circuit which focused on endurance and core stability to aid performance in triathlons🥵

Everyone who knows me, knows how close me and grandad are. He is my inspiration and a role-model figure and I am entirely grateful for everything he has done for myself and all of my family.

Sadly, my grandad was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. Throughout this upsetting process, he has continued to have a positive outlook on life, continuing to be the rock of the family and inspire all of us with his amazing strength and courage. My grandad will always be my hero and someone I want to base my life off. His continuous positive energy and outlook on life is infectious, which is why I want to do something to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Yorkshire Cancer Research charity.

This charity is a non-profitable organisation which aims to allows loved ones to live a longer, more comfortable life with cancer. This amazing organisation has helped thousands of local families live a more comfortable life with this horrible disease. Giving more comfort during a horrible time and providing families with a positive outlook which my grandad has continued to do.

Starting on the 1st October I and will run 15k every day for the whole of October. This will equate to 465k which is around 11 marathons. This will be without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done but it is nothing compared to the journey my grandad and thousands of other people are currently enduring with cancer. Thousands of families are affected by cancer and small efforts like this one can raise much needed funds to find a cure for this terrible disease.

Ethan Fitness Testing⚽️🏃‍♀️💨

Ethan came to to improve his speed, endurance, strength and coordination in the hope of optimising his sporting performance in football🏋️‍♀️

Ethan is currently assigned to the Sheffield United youth programme so it is critical we ensure he continues to hit extremely targets in all forms of physical fitness to further develop his potential and ability📈⚽️

Testing was performed at week 1 of the programme to generate an understanding of Ethan’s key strengths and weaknesses. From there the team could plan a unique programme specific to Ethan to target the key weaknesses which were highlighted through the testing procedures📶

Ethan has performed exceptionally in all sessions and continues to deliver a high level of enthusiasm and engagement to ensure he continues to make excellent progress. This is represented by an improvement in all testing scores across a plethora of physical components💥🚀

TRAINING WITH AN INJURY🤕

All athletes will suffer from an injury during their lifetime. However, this should not limit their ability to train and optimise their sporting potential🚀.

There are ways to continue to train and improve athlete development whilst being injured⚡️💭

1️⃣ Exercise Selection: Improvise with different exercises, machines and movements to continue to develop physical characteristics🏋️‍♀️

2️⃣ Unilateral Training: Training the uninjured limb can help maintain strength & size of the injured (untrained) limb🦵

3️⃣ Isometrics: Powerful tools to train within pain- free ranges, promote a pain inhibiting effect to allow more pain free dynamic loading🚀

4️⃣ Eccentrics: Using tempo work to manipulate speed of movement to challenge posture and position under load- this will develop motor control & eccentric strength💪🏼

5️⃣ Range of Motion: Using partial ROM to slowly regain tissue length & strength👊🏻

6️⃣ Mobility & Flexibility: Injuries are an opportunity to develop often neglected areas and enhance ROM💥

7️⃣ Proprioception: Tasks involving balancing, whole body co-ordination, challenges to posture & gait to improve joint stability/ ability for muscles to co-contract & support joints⚖️

8️⃣ Reduce Axial Loading: Limiting stress on bones, tissue & joints🚷

CLUSTER SETS💎🏋️‍♂️:

Cluster sets represent an easy way to keep performance levels high across multiple sets and reps🚀🧨.

They consist of taking a short rest periods between reps or a group of reps, in order to maintain movement quality, reduce fatigue, and enhance power metrics such as barbell velocity, force & power outputs💥💣.

Key benefits of cluster training🔑:

* increased velocity💨
* increased intensities🏋️‍♂️
* Increased power outputs💥
* increased stimulus⚡️
* increased muscular activation💪🏼

Cluster sets are an optimal opportunity to elicit greater stress on targeted muscles. They should be used with caution due to the high intensities manipulated⚠️.

Ethan- Football S&C Client⚽️

Ethan is a new member of the Lync Performance strength and conditioning group🏋️‍♂️👊🏻.

Ethan is a talented football player and has been heavily involved in the Sheffield United emerging talent program for the last 4 years🏃‍♂️⚽️ .

His first session down at the Lync centre was testing day. Where we tested Ethan against a plethora of physical components. As you can tell from the table, Ethan has excelled in a variety of tests. What is even more encouraging is that the normative values compared against his week 1 testing scores are deprived from 15 year old academy footballers. This highlights the fantastic work Ethan has done in testing phase👊🏻.

Future programmes will be tailored towards Ethan’s current weaknesses to ensure he can optimise his sporting performance💨.

It is a privilege to have an individual like Ethan down at Lync. A very talented and dedicated young athlete who has high aspirations to have a successful career in sport🏆.

Players should be able to change direction quickly while shielding the puck from your opponent with your body. It requires a deep bend with weight distributed as evenly as possible on both skates🏒.

By controlling and the protecting the puck simultaneously will open up a game offensively for a skater with new opportunities presenting themselves to pass or shoot and therefore improving the chances of winning👊🏻.
