Our year was wrapped up with a lovely evening of Christmas celebration last night. We also took the opportunity to present our retiring director, Andrea Colton, with a gift that she can treasure for years to come 🥰

Members of WLOS were lucky enough to share some of beloved MD Pete Lack’s wisdom today. In a vocal workshop this evening, Pete provided invaluable breathing and diction techniques. The group experimented with beneficial posturing and took a deep dive into acting through song. Thank you Pete! Once again you’ve proven to be a treasure to the members of WLOS 🤩

WLOS WORKSHOP

Today WLOS was treated to a theatre workshop by none other than our new director, Matt Roddis.
Using exercises developed by Stanislavski and Lecoq, Matt led members in a fascinating study of characterisation. The group laughed, recoiled and succumbed to complete relaxation as TV characters found themselves meeting at the supermarket. Members were challenged and forced out of their comfort zone by Matt who laughed and smiled along with the rest of them. It was fun to discover and play with theatrical methods while developing a sense and employment of character in acting.

As we come down to the final couple of rehearsals for Fifty, we were joined last night by the fabulous Rebecca's Dance Studios. The team feature in a few of our numbers and are literally the icing on a very musical cake! It’s so nice that we are joined on stage by the Principal and Assistant Principal of the dance school, for part of this, as they have both been members of WLOS in the past, taking a variety of roles.

Andrea Colton will have directed 16 shows for WLOS over the last 11 years, working with many talented people to bring a variety of musical theatre productions to the people of Worksop and surrounding areas. After some admitted hard work, sleepless nights, lots of dedication and immense love for WLOS Andrea feels the time is right to step back as our director, following our Anniversary concert in November. This must have been a very tough decision, and her expertise will be sorely missed. I’m sure that you will all agree that our decade of successful shows would not have been possible without her.
