So it’s with great sadness that I’m parting ways with Carina, my beautiful MK2 Jetta Coupe.

She is a 1.6 petrol 5 speed manual in what a believe is Atlas Grey.

When I bought her, she was on coilovers & set to young man spec’ so I refitted the helper springs, but still suffered from a broken spine every time I drove over anything resembling a bump & so I purchased a quality set of gas struts & lowered springs - I reckon she now sits perfect & rides a 100% better. She also needed the gear linkage rebuilding, which I did & again it drives 100% & along with the engine starting on the button every time and running as sweet as Carina is a practical and reliable daily option.
She also came with the usual KPH speedo & so I fitted a set of diesel MPH clocks I had lying around and so the speedo is easier to read - the only issues are: the speedo needle fluctuates slightly & reads 5mph fast - so when you’re travelling at 30mph the speedo reads 35mph. Sadly the mileage doesn’t work at all - it did for a brief time when I fitted the clocks & then stopped, this has never bothered me. There is also a ‘ticking’ noise which I believe is a kink in the speedo cable, I do have a brand new one that is included in the sale. The exhaust is not the correct one & something I would definitely change if I were keeping her, but it makes a not unpleasant rasp & isn’t too loud.

She came on poverty spec steel wheels when I bought her & so I quickly purchased these GB Minstral lookalikes & and brand new tyres which I love.

There’s one rust patch on the passenger door step & that’s it…! Carina is in amazing original condition & I believe you’ll struggle to find a better example that hasn’t had a load of work done.

The roof gutters are in dire condition, but hopefully next year new ones are being produced.

The interior is in great condition, but dirty - she would benefit from a valet.

There’s currently no stereo fitted, but there are some quality speakers that I fitted in the dash and doors - no rear speakers though.

You may also be pleased to know I’ve also fixed the heater flaps properly and so keeping warm in winter won’t be a problem.

The pictures I’ve posted here are taken the day of the Mot after a good wash, please let me know if you want any more.

I’m wanting to get my money back for Carina & so the price is £6300 - there may be some room for negotiation but ONLY if you’re stood in front of me viewing the car - please, please, please don’t bother me with “what’s your best price” messages etc…

Hi, this is Claire, the latest addition to the All Gears team.
As you may or may not know, Neil and I are getting married on the 30th June and I am whisking him away for a much needed break.
