We had a fantastic time at the Wrexham Business & Community Awards networking event followed by a day at the races. It's fair to say we had a wonderful time.
If you've not been before (like we hadn't) its a great day out!

We don't assume you can't do anything... We know you can... But some of us need a little help, some us a lot more help... But we want to encourage you to be all you can be in an ever changing world. Familiarisation Videos is just a small way we can help promote independence.

Life would be so much easier for people if they could see these things BEFORE they get to a venue! Today is the first day of Crohn's and colitis awareness week. Please give this video a watch to try and better understand this hidden illness. #crohnsandcolitisuk #MakingTheUnfamiliarMoreFamiliar
We love Nick's videos. He highlights issues wheelchair users face in the outside world. These types of displays are mostly placed by pillars or at the ends of isles which restricts the space available to manoeuvre a wheelchair or to get at products you may want. Cages with deliveries are also another hindrance. Some stores have multiple cages per isle making it impossible to navigate. By being a bit more mindful about where you place your in store displays you can make the shopping experience for people with mobility issues a much more pleasant one. These are simple adjustments that can be made to improve accessibility. #MakingTheUnfamiliarMoreFamiliar
Did you know the number one thing you guys want to see on our Familiarisation Videos is the inside of toilets... Toilets can cause a lot of anxiety, not only for wheelchair users but for people with hidden illnesses too. Many venues state they have wheelchair accessible toilets however, there is often not enough room for a wheelchair. If the individual needs a carer, then this poses further issues. We show the inside of toilets, so the information you receive is an accurate representation of the space and it's features. The reality is some people like this lady are left having to use toilet facilities without privacy or leave in search of somewhere more appropriate. #MakingTheFamiliarMoreFamiliar
