Please note that I am on holiday mid June so I highly recommend being organised with appointments. It’s summer and prom/races/holiday/wedding season so extra busy. Online booking for June is open already but if it’s not showing, it’s unfortunately not available. You can however add yourself to my cancellation list via the online booking system.

My last day will be Wednesday 12th (9-8pm) and the next available appointments after my return are currently Thursday 27th.

As mentioned in an email and post some time ago, I will temporarily be working a long day on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays just for the first two weeks of June due to childcare arrangements. Saturdays will remain unchanged.

Please ensure you use my online booking system and book at least 2 appointments ahead. The online booking system is in place to make both your life and my life easier as you don’t have to wait for me to reply, as I often can’t during the day. You can book, move and cancel appointments online any time of day or night, as well as making a request to be added onto the cancellation list.

We are fast approaching a very busy time of year when people want treatments for holidays or other events meaning I will be much busier than usual. Plus I have lots of lovely new clients to fit in too.

I am getting a lot of ‘sos’ messages from people wanting me to squeeze them in or work a non-working day because they are on holiday/have an event, but I’m just not able to I am a one man band and already work extremely long hours and can’t offer appointments outside of my scheduled working days sorry.

I myself can’t keep track on who has booked and who hasn’t, I leave that up to you guys to make sure you have future appointments made well in advance.

I do get gaps and cancellations but these are never guaranteed and I always post them on social media where they often get snapped up very quickly so I recommend not relying on last minute availability.

As most of you will have already seen on the news, this week saw the first ever National Nail Tech Price Increase Day.

Therapists across the country raised their prices in order to try and create sustainable and profitable businesses as we face ever increasing running costs, particularly with the branded products we use on a daily basis.

Whilst it really is the most amazing job in so many ways, it’s sadly not as profitable as people may think.
In fact if you sat down and looked at the £35 I get for an hour of infilling a set of BIAB nails, by the time you deduct the cost of all the branded products I use plus running costs such as tea/coffee, electricity and other consumables like wipes and files, I’m probably earning less than the minimum wage! One of the many reasons why annual price increases and cancellation charges are so important to small businesses like mine. It’s not something any of us enjoy doing, but something we have to implement in order to remain in business as the cost of living rises rapidly.

Whilst I have not changed my own pricing structure for a number of years now, I have made the decision not to increase my prices just for now, but it is something that I will be doing a little later in the year.

I think it’s fantastic the way the industry has come together to try and create change and I fully support this movement. We are a heavily underpaid and underrated industry that requires an incredible amount of training, experience, patience, skill and is highly regulated, yet sadly undervalued. Especially hard when we are competing with non-standard salons that are churning out £20 sets of nails 7 days a week but with little to no training, no cancellation policies, poor hygiene and cheap products that damage nails long term. Unfortunately we simply can’t compete if we are to do things ‘properly’ and make an honest living.

As always, I’m so grateful for the continued loyalty and support I’ve received from my clients during and following my maternity leave and the move to my home salon. Thank you all so much 🤍

It’s essential to have a patch test prior to any lash or brow treatment if you’ve not been within the last six months or are a new client. I also ask all my clients to let me know if they’ve experienced any changes with skin care (especially the introduction of any retinol, AHA or anti-ageing products) or have started any medication which might affect the waxing such as acne treatment or other steroids. These things can cause grazing of the skin when the wax is removed, but it can be avoided by taking relevant steps to protect your skin prior to any hair removal 💫

Apologies for the radio silence, but I’m currently experiencing a few technical issues with baby adhering to my perfectly planned schedule😆

As a result my maternity leave will likely commence a little earlier than planned, however, I should know more over the coming days.

I have temporarily suspended online booking until I know more to avoid having to cancel anyone if things change, so if you’d like an appointment please just message me directly it’s no problem.

I hope everybody has had a lovely festive period. I certainly feel well fed and rested, and ready for the month ahead before maternity leave commences on 31st January.

I have plenty of availability for appointments between now and then and will always do my best to accommodate you if the day or time you need is not showing as available so please always ask.

As I have mentioned to most of you by now, if there is no sign of baby at the end of January I will still offer a handful of appointments on an ad hoc basis (these won't be available online) all depending on how I am feeling at the time, but these will be bookable direct with me.

Unfortunately I won't be able to guarantee or book these more than a day or two in advance for obvious reasons.

For now, all appointments until 31 Jan can be booked and amended using the online booking facility on my website which is much easier for both you and me, as it means you can view all of my availability without waiting for a reply. Please just shout if you don't see the day/time you need or you have any issues with booking (sometimes different devices can play up and freeze mid-booking so always try another device before you give up).

In the meantime I have a few special offers planned for this month to celebrate 2023 and my last few weeks in work so keep your eyes peeled.

Please also remember (especially now I work alone) that all last minute amendments or cancelations with less than 24 hours notice will incur a charge. The full cancelation policy can be seen on my website.

WINTER NAIL CARE

Nails are extra prone to lifting, splitting, peeling and breaking in winter so it’s important you follow the below steps to help get the most out of your nail treatment:

1. Oil Daily - using a cuticle oil or balm to provide moisture and stimulate nail and avoid using them as tools by taking extra care when doing things like peeling labels off Christmas gifts
2. Hydrate - apply hand cream daily to keep the skin soft
3. Protect - wear gloves when outside or doing chores where using chemicals such as cleaning products and try to avoid over excessive sanitising
4. Prevent - avoid picking or peeling off any products as this will weaken and damage the nails
5. Maintain - attend regular appointments to maintain and allow for professional cuticle and nail care
6. Nourish - diet, water consumption and overall good health will positively impact your nails, just like taking medication and experiencing illness can often result in brittle or weak nails
