Here's something a bit different. Our customer wanted to keep the look of the existing louvre window but replacing the timber frame with upvc. With a few tweaks we were able to incorporate the aluminium louvers into a new frame. Also it was nice to get back to some traditional glazing by changing the internal door screen from wired obscure glass into clear safety glass. A great transformation to this porch/garage. Starting with the roof we replaced the old tiles and felt and fully insulated the roof space followed by new felt, batten and tiles with grey facias and guttering. Inside the garage was also contributing to the cold bedroom upstairs so we used insulated plasterboard on the walls and ceiling before plastering and also fitted an insulated electric door and self levelled the floor for a smooth finish. This is a lovely project we have been involved with and probably one of the finest "mancaves" we have helped build so far working alongside Border Builders. After the initial blockwork was laid we installed the roof beams followed by a rubber roof system with 3 roof lanterns to naturally let light in over the whirlpool bath room and over the games room/bar area. Installation of the fascia and gutters and then windows and bi-folding doors soon followed, finished in anthracite grey. Then for the exterior we fitted a moon dust grey coastline cladding to complement the finished look.

Last week we completed a porch renovation Including removal of a leaky felt roof, exterior cladding, a partition wall and all the old plaster. Then, externally we built a fully insulated pitched tiled roof, new brickwork to the side of door and a new window. Internally the consumer unit was changed and a full test on the house electrics, a couple of extra sockets and spotlights to finish off. We built a cupboard to cover the meter then it was fully plastered throughout ready for paint.

A fascia job completed last week. The pictures really doesn't show the extent of how much the old roofline had sagged and warped due to the wrong materials used, no support added and poor workmanship. Once the old plastic was ripped off we had to build a new frame all around to support the tiles and to carry the weight of the new facias and gutters.
