Glamping at Hafod Las

Great day walking around Cwm Idwal (Devils Kitchen). Stunning scenery just an hours drive from the Hut and Hideaway 😍 Then a delicious pizza from Flame and Grain wood fired catering which also happens to be on the same site as a cheese maker using sheep milk from local farms to produce award winning sheep cheese. Cosyn Cymru cheese for dinner when we get back home 😍 perfect

Some interesting information about the breed of sheep that we have here 😍

We manage our land with conservation at the forefront. The methods we use for growing our produce allow us to leave the land for wildlife and wildflowers. And our grazing management is used to allow them to thrive. The sheep are grazed in a rotation that allows wildflower to establish and self seed, and the cows have been busy squashing the bracken to allow the bluebells to enjoy life. And as you can see, it is working well 😍. Just a short walk around recording some of the flowers we can see and we have counted over 25!

Lambing 2024 has been a success. 6 strong lambs born to help preserve this special breed 😍
We have a rare breed of sheep, North Ronaldsay ( The seaweed eating sheep). They are on the 'Priority' list on the Rare Breed Survival Trust watchlist 😕 which is why we work closely with the breed society to promote the breed and get new breeders on board, setting them up with a starter flock 😍
Fun fact. Did you know that the RBST watchlist is an annual report that highlights the status of rare and native livestock and equine breeds in the UK. And every breed on it is more rare than the Giant Panda!

All our guests this weekend have opted for our locally sourced breakfast pack. The sausages and bacon are from the award winning Swans Farm Shop , milk from Llaeth Carreg Milk , eggs from our own hens, bread from Village Bakery and delicious Shirgar Welsh butter. Yum 😋 (veggie option available too!)

Tonight it was almost light till 7 o'clock and the bats were whizzing around as we were packing up. 🦇 Such a great time of year!

Happy Saint David's day.

Today it's officially the first day of spring and it's our first day open this year. 🙂🙂

We've been working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for this weekend's guests

Nice walk to our local waterfall at Bersham, set in the middle of an ancient broad leaf woodland. You can make this a long walk by setting off from the Hut/Hideaway, or if you are looking for a quicker walk then you can drive to Bersham and walk along the river through the woods. Then back to base for a hot drink in front of the fire 😍🍂

I had some company as I was getting the Hideaway ready for this weekend's guests 🙂

Just up the road from us, a lovely way to spend a couple of hours!

The sunflowers look amazing and the field will be open from tomorrow, all day every day. You can pay in the Farm Shop Wednesday-Saturday and an honestly box is at the entrance when the Farm Shop is closed. The secateurs are in a basket at the entrance and if you wish to purchase any they are £2 each, or just go for a lovely walk. 🌻🌻🌻

Amazing night on Moel Famau with the Bryniau Clwyd a Dyffryn Dyfrdwy - Clwydian Range and Dee Valley rangers looking for Nightjar. The moon was bright, so the Nightjar weren't very active, but we were lucky enough to hear both male and female calling.
So lucky to have places like this on our doorstep 😍
