Sewing and Craft School
Applique, Crochet, Dressmaking, Embroidery, Knitting, Patchwork & Quilting to Zips and so much more
Example of work in class today:
Gracie (13) is on the Intermediate Crochet Course. This is her 8th lesson, including six lessons in the beginner course - having never crocheted before. I am in awe of the speed Gracie has picked up the hobby of crocheting. This beautiful flower granny square block was learnt and crocheted in today’s lesson. [Photo 1]
Grace (13) in on the dressmaking course. She wanted to further her skills, that she is being taught at school. She is sewing a skirt in this beautiful Tana Lawn Liberty fabric (from her mum’s stash!). Throughout this course Grace has been learning to master many of the skills required in dressmaking. Including how to insert a zip - excellent job done. [Photo 2]
I am so proud of Gracie and Grace and their new skills x
Wishing you all a wonderful, healthy and safe New Year xx

The first time I set my eyes on decorated eggs; was when I was twenty one years old and living in Germany. I was enthralled by the delicateness and pastel colours my elderly neighbour painted the blown chicken egg shells. The yolks and whites were made into cakes - no waste. The following year; my german now a little better. I was able to ask and buy the correct egg paints from our village craft shop and paint my own eggs. I wasn’t so great at the egg blowing but I cracked (pun intended) the dying and painting. I was in love 💛
Take care of yourselves and see you soon.

🐲Wood Dragon🐲
Who doesn’t like a dragon? 🐲 And a dragon made by nature is just so exciting. My imagination runs wild; with the colours and textures. Round and round darting from this idea to that idea. I love it when my love of textiles and nature collide 🐲

Over the summer I have been teaching Max dressmaking. They picked this beautiful fabric and have been making a dress from a late 1970’s style dress pattern.
While teaching Max, I have learnt so much about; vampires that I think I can take an exam now! Such fun lessons and was sad when they have moved away to start university.
We are still going to do some lessons by video call and can’t wait to catch up - thank you Max for making the lessons such fun.

Sewing and Craft School will be closed on Monday 19th September
We join the nation in mourning following the sad news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. We are grateful for the many years of outstanding service she gave to the nation. We send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family during this time.
As a mark of respect, Sewing and Craft School will be closed on Monday 19th September.
It is the First of September and I have a new Autumn programme up and live on the school website. I am excited for the next term ahead.
I am back to doing Saturday’s, always a very popular day. However, my grandson was only his preschool year once. And I wanted to make the most of having William every weekend during this last year. Well until I tripped at the swimming pool and managed to break my left fibula and right foot. Resulting in two black boots and no driving. And due to Noel stroke; he is unable to drive, it meant a tricky time. I am so lucky to have family and friends who all came to the rescue for shopping and appointments.
Bonus, lots of sewing; I learnt to sew by putting the foot peddle on the table and using my fore arm to press it down (my machine(s) do not have the knee attachment - not that it would have helped as one of the breaks was under my knee). And knitting and crochet - what an excuse I had 🙂
William starts school in his home town of Yeovil on Monday and his words “he is excited and nervous”, which is good.
So for the foreseeable future Saturday teaching is back on - yes!
Please get in touch with any questions or if you wish to pay.
I look forward to seeing everyone back for a new academic year. I am excited and nervous in equal measures.

A little light hearted post to get me back on social media 😍 needed a little break, like you do now and again! Crafting was my recovery - just the best healer, that I know xx
I have been missing for a while and I have lots of exciting news 😀 but I thought I would start with a thank you from a student.
Kirsty has returned to work as her maternity leave has come to an end. She is a soldier for the British Army and with her commitments to; her young family and work - dressmaking lessons has understandably had to be put back on the shelf for a while.
We will miss you Kirsty and thank you so very much for the card and flowers 💖
