UPDATE: Excited to show you a bit more of what I’ve been up to. This space will be where his computer eventually goes. I was so nervous about painting this, especially with going on the ceiling but using ‘ScotchBlue Masking Tape’ made it so much easier! Even though I left each colour to properly dry for a few days it did still peel off a little. But I’d rather touch up that attempt these lines free hand!

Happy Friday guys!
Painting AGAIN!
Literally does not stop. Not finished yet…
• I want to paint a vertical rectangle where his computer will go to zone the area - kind of dreading that one because I want to include part of the ceiling 🤞🏼
• Also, decided to go all the way down with the “Good Home - Princeton” and include the skirtings and the radiator.
New Curtains and possibly a new light fixture.
• Need to find or curate a new desk and some shelves and buy a computer which we won’t see for a while because we’re planning on it being a birthday surprise (31st May).
• Need to alter his drawers because the new carpet is thickier so they now don’t open…
not much 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 we don’t make it easy for ourselves!

• • Charlottes Bed - Complete! • •
Morning campers ☀️I’ve been dying to share this with you. Honestly guys if you haven’t thought about building your own furniture then check out what this room looked like before I built this - custom built is the way forward!

✔️ Storage (the drawers are the same width as the bed so it’s equal to 3 toy boxes 👍🏼)
✔️ Even a built in pull out mini wardrobe for her dolls clothes
✔️ Similar height as the windowsill so she can sit in bed and look straight out of her window
✔️ Enough room at the bottom between the bed & window so that the curtains can comfortably move & sit without been squished (plus another hidey hole for any big bits that you don’t want to fill the drawers with)

Charlottes room isn’t small but you start adding a bed then a toy box. Then toy box doesn’t fit everything in so you have surplus toys hanging about so then you might add more storage… Things start to get crammed pretty quickly!

A single bed is going to take up at least 190cm x 90cm - that’s a big chunk of your room so you may as well incorporate what you need into the bed. That way you aren’t using any extra floor space.

So far today I’ve dragged myself out of slumber at 04:00 😴 been to work. Come home to quickly change and then take Charlotte to a birthday party 🥳 😬 thirty screaming 5/6yr olds at soft play… yay 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hopefully I will be able to draw up some plans today (by plans I mean doodle obvs) on how I want Charlottes beef to look. Then hopefully tomorrow grab some timber 🤞🏼💪🏼 and make a start… oh and I should probably get some Halloween decorations up at some point 👻🎃 we’re a bit late this year.

Just need to find that get up and go…

I can’t decide whether this pattern would look better if the background was the same colour as the wall. So do I paint the pattern on myself? Or does the navy blue in the wallpaper add depth?

Ready for the carpet to be fitted tomorrow 😍 😍 although I’m now panicking if I picked the right colour carpet and can I even remember it? I’m sure it will look amazing but when you pick something and then have to wait the overthinking sets in… 😱 . .
I’m in love with this transformation so far! I’m thinking of stealing this room for myself 😂 it just feels so warm and classy. I would’ve loved to have a bedroom like this when I was little. Although you probably wouldn’t have seen the walls from all the posters 🤷🏻‍♀️

Who else detests prep work 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ it always takes way longer than you think it will, even with a ‘cutting in’ brush.

Although I did a tester - on all walls this seems darker than I’d anticipated but I do like slight purple tint to it (maybe that’s just my imagination after staring at it sat to long).

The carpet is quite light so when that is laid it should lift the light 💡

So I decided half way through cutting in yesterday that instead of putting a wallpaper on the opposite wall, I’m going to attempt to paint on my own pattern… it can go two ways 🤷🏻‍♀️😂🥸
I love the wallpaper but the background colour on it is navy blue and I feel this is too different to the wall colour.
When picking a wallpaper to go on part of your walls it is generally I good rule of thumb to match your walls to one of the main colours in the wallpaper so that it blends nicely together and looks intentionally one. Or go completely opposite to create a statement. Otherwise, it can just look un-thought out.

Now where’s that motivation?

When you spend ages building bespoke built in bunk beds only to have to dismantle part of it to fit a new carpet 🤯 🤯 oh AND the drawers might need cutting down so they open on the new carpet 🤦🏻‍♀️

Currently trying to build motivation for today’s antics with a coffee… might need more than one 🙈

Charlottes room was the first room we decorated when we moved in 3 years ago. I loved it but it was a rush job to make her feel comfortable in our new home. I was only just starting to dip my toes into the world of interiors and I played it safe.

Plan of action is;
+ Panelled wall on the wall in which her bed will be on to make it more of a ‘feature’ drawing you eye in and creating more depth.
+ Painting the walls a warm grey to make the room feel warmer and cosy.
+ Wallpapering the opposite wall in a whimsical forest themed wallpaper to make the dollhouse ‘pop’ more. This wall will be the home to charlottes mammoth dollhouse that I built for her last Christmas (pictures to come).
+ Carpet to go down in replace of the old wooden floor. I love wooden floors but I feel like bedrooms should be a cosy place and Charlotte spends a lot of time sat on her floor.
+ Dusted pink curtains (not 100%) yet.
+ Skirtings and door to be painted in ‘black arrow’
+ Building Charlotte a cabin bed that gives her a place to store her dolls, doll clothes, barbies, toys and other millions of bits and bobs.
+ Accessorising with colourful accents and wall details.

…now for that motivation - but first, another coffee ☕️

Good evening lovelies 🥂 I hope you’ve all enjoyed 🦸🏻‍♂️

I spent mine with my two favourite daddies… my daddy and the daddy to my children 🖤

Hopefully no one dies because I cooked 🤞🏼 not that I can’t cook, I can but I’m not the most reliable cook… I forget what I put in the cooker which means it gets pulled out late and I’m way too easily distracted… ooo butterfly 🦋 (rubbish joke just slid in there 😉).

Also, I don’t really enjoy cooking so me cooking is the biggest present EVER really because I avoid it at all costs. Me and my husband have a lovely agreement… he cooks. I clean. And that’s the way it is. So f**k my life and roll me in sh*t… when my dad said all he wanted for Father’s Day was a Sunday dinner 😐 I couldn’t exactly have Patrick slaving over the stove for his and my dads Father’s Day meal… though the thought did cross my mind - not going to lie 🤭 I was so anxious about today BUT… I think I pulled it off 💪🏼

I even made a little plate up for Bella 😆 I’m not sure if you can tell but she was sat up on her bum with her two front paws up like a little human waiting to be fed. She was sat patiently like that before food was even put on the table so I just had to let her join ☺️ she even used her paws like little hands, moving her food closer when she couldn’t reach 🐶

Then, after our food babies had settled we went for a lovely walk to the park. We are so lucky to have a woodland walk literally 3 doors down 🖤 I think Pat enjoyed himself… I let him take his scooter and dolly 😂

What have you been up to?

PS. My fairy lights have fallen down in kitchen and I haven’t bothered to put them back up because I’m now rethinking the whole kitchen 🤯

Been a little quiet this week on IG whilst been busy behind the scenes.

Finally managed to fit our spot lights -
diall LED brushed chrome spotlights.

Although Patrick didn’t think to mark out what wires were what when fitting the junction box and now one of the spotlights think that they are our front porch light 🤦🏻‍♀️ so that’s a job for today!

Been repainting a dollhouse I made Charlotte for Christmas because I changed my mind on colour 🤷🏻‍♀️ I can wait to show you pics when I’ve done.

Also been making a velvet emerald green sofa for the dollhouse... also can’t wait to show you that! So proud of how it’s turned out... actually considering of reupholstering my sofa now 😂 just need to fit arms and legs on it and then I can share it with you 🖤

Full of cold though so my momentum has been thawed this week 🤧

A lot of people don’t think about their doors and skirtings when decorating but it can make or break a look. I often see rooms and think oh that’s so nice and then there’s this door that has just been painted a safe ‘white’.

Don’t get me wrong, white can look fab if that’s the look you’re going with but for that WOW factor try break the norm and dare to be different... you won’t regret it 🤩✨⭐️
