The Furtive Ferret
Former gift shop. These days it's mostly crafting discussions and historical experimenting.
The Overlapping Leaves Blanket designed by Knitting Unlimited is finally blocked and finished!
If anyone would like to give it a home, it's a wool and acrylic blend, about 5 foot square ish, and wonderfully squishy.
Ā£20 + p&p. Because I didn't design this one, I'm only charging the cost of the yarn, and I won't make any profit from it.
Argyll lace shawl is off the needles and blocking in the sunshine.
After a completely mad year, I totally forgot I started making things again! This one is a version of Afetos from Ravelry, but I'm referring to it as the lobster shawl š¦
Plague has hit the Furtive Ferret fortification.
I'm still testing negative so far, so I'm doing solo catsnake wrangling dressed in heavy duty mask and gloves, and with as little contact with them as possible.
I don't think Immy approves.
Red weather warnings here in the UK.
Please make sure you keep hydrated, use sunscreen if you have to venture out, and don't forget to eat. Doubly so if you take SSRIs/SNRIs/beta blockers, as they lower your tolerance to heat.
Frank has taken to snoozing away the worst of it in the cool spot behind the sofa. Be more Frank.
It's here!
I think I'm in love.
Food coma š¤£
Mister Francis is not approving of the heat. I concur! š„µ
It's a miracle! These two have hated each other for the last two years, but have suddenly decided to started cleaning each others faces. I'm perplexed but not questioning it.
I swear there are actually two ferrets in the bed.
People keep saying how adorable the ferrets are and how lucky I am to have been adopted by them.
Well this is the dark side.
Ernest has decided that today he is going to engage full toddler mode, and is currently latched onto the back of the sofa by his teeth while throwing a full blown tantrum.
CARPET SHARK IS CARPET SHARKING!
Happy second gotcha day to Frank and Immy: the terrible twins, the gruesome twosome.
They both drive me completely round the bend but I wouldn't change them for the world (although I'd really appreciate it if they stopped racking up ridiculous vet bills).
I AM VICTORIOUS! Now I just need to find a space big enough to block it.
(Pattern: Overlapping Leaves Blanket by Knitting Unlimited)
Little miss grouch isn't approving of all this heat either. This is the look she gave me when I dared to block the AC for a moment this morning.
Ernest and I have decided that the pollen count is just unreasonable and excessive today, and we disapprove of it entirely.
Urgh!
Happy Solstice to everyone who celebrates it.
Oh my goodness, I've just noticed I've made it to 500 likes! You're all wonderful and you've made my day! Thank you!
Look at the state of it!
When we first adopted him we were terribly worried about Frank's bald tail, as it can be a sign of a very nasty ferret illness, but it turns out that it's just what his summer coat looks like. My little scruff!
The Gruesome Twosome have finally worked out that sleeping out of the sun is a lot more comfortable.
So today is my last day of trading as The Furtive Ferret Gift Co.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last year, it's been amazing and so have you!
I'm still going to make stuff in my own time, and these items will be available for the cost of materials plus p&p, as they most likely won't be my own designs - and as a designer myself, I detest people who make money passing off other people's patterns as their own.
To everyone still waiting on an order from me (I think I'm mostly caught up now), it will be on its way to you over the next couple of days.
Much love,
Lex
Apologies to everyone who's currently waiting for orders from me.
My carpal tunnel has been playing silly beggars for the last few weeks which has put me really behind. Pretty much everything is now completed, and will be posted out this week.
To those of you who have ordered the shawls which were out on tour, I'm currently chasing up their return to me, and I'll get them in the post to you as soon as I get them back.
Thank you all so much for your patience!
We're down to the last few bits in the shop, and if all goes to plan we'll be shutting it down for good at the end of the 16th June. Everything has been reduced again, so head on over to furtiveferret.com and grab yourself a bargain!
One very cuddly patient this morning. His painkillers seem to be working nicely, and he even had a little play last night.
After thinking he'd just nibbled at a midge bite or something and made it a bit sore and scabby; it turns out that Ernest has damaged the tendons in his wrist. He's now under a strict no-climbing edict (which is going about as well as you'd expect), and has some especially revolting painkillers to take twice a day, the administration of which is proving to be about as easy as baptising a cat.
Throwback to before Frank turned into the poser we all know and love.
We still have plenty of these botanical hairbands left at furtiveferret.com.
Now just Ā£5 each!
Throwback to this day in 2020, when poor Ernest didn't have those pesky youngsters to deal with!
Also, bonus points for fangs and beans.
New log-slice teapot coaster, available from furtiveferret.com for just Ā£7.45.
I know I wasn't supposed to be making anything new, but carpal tunnel and boredom means I have a devil on both shoulders now š
Help needed!
One of the small businesses The Furtive Ferret Gift Co. has always been very close to is in danger of having to shut down due to a rent increase.
