Google searches for filler dissolving have increased drastically over the last 3 years...possibly signalling the return to people wanting more natural aesthetic outcomes.

Here are five filler dissolving facts that many people aren't aware of.

1. Whilst filler is metabolised by the body naturally, filler has been known to remain in tissues for over a decade!

If you have bothersome filler, it will need dissolving. You can't wish or massage it away.

2. Filler can be dissolved for a number of reasons.

Migration - where the filler has moved from where it was placed

Overfilling - too much filler has been placed

Complications - fillers have been placed & are causing problems

Ready for a reset - some people prefer how they looked without filler

3. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme injected into the target area, and gets to work by dissolving the filler.

It's a Prescription Only Medicine.

So you need to see a Prescriber to get any filler dissolved.

4. Not everyone can have filler dissolved.

If you have allergic-type reactions to bee and wasp stings, you are more likely to have a reaction to hyaluronidase.

If you have an active skin infection or have a history of cold sores, your practitioner may advise on treatments to address these conditioners prior to treatment.

5. You can't have more filler immediately after dissolving.

You will need to wait at least 2 weeks before getting re-filled.

This is because

A) it might take this long for the filler dissolving swelling to go down

B) the hyaluronidase that’s been used to dissolve the previous filler might actually also dissolve any new filler that’s put in too soon after your dissolving filler treatment.

I'm not saying you have to be an angel or perfect... But

If you're excessive with drinking/smoking it's a TOTAL waste of money.

Just NO to sunbeds.

Sort your skincare.
Sort your lifestyle.

THEN consider injectables.

24/07/2024

No matter your age, your future self will thank you for…

- Wearing SPF daily
- Not smoking
- Banking collagen

Throw in cleansing at the end of the day and using a retinoid...

It's NEVER too early or late to care for your skin.

I can't open a social media app without being served an ad for some collagen supplement or another...but are they worth it? Do they work?

Well...yes and no.

Here are some of the pros:

Potential for Improved Skin Health:

Some studies have shown that taking hydrolyzed collagen may increase skin hydration, elasticity, and reduce wrinkles. But...that's when you take enough (10mg/day), every day for 8-12 weeks).

May Support Joint Health:

Collagen plays a role in joint structure. Supplementation might reduce pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

Generally Safe and Well-Tolerated:

Hydrolyzed collagen is broken down into smaller peptides for easier absorption and has minimal side effects. So even if it's not doing you much good, it's unlikely to be doing you any harm.

Easy to Take:

Comes in various forms like capsules, powder, or pre-mixed drinks, making it convenient to incorporate into your routine.

Now on to the cons...

Limited Scientific Evidence:

While some research shows benefits, more robust studies are needed to confirm all claimed effects.

Not a Quick Fix:

It can take several months to see noticeable results, and benefits may vary depending on the individual. And you need to continue to supplement to keep experiencing those benefits.

Can Be Expensive:

Depending on the dosage and brand, collagen supplements can be a significant ongoing cost.

May Not Be Suitable for All:

People with allergies to animal products (common sources are bovine and marine collagen) should avoid it.
..

Maybe have a protein shake/increase your protein intake first!

Treating tired, crepey, dark eyes is not an easy thing.

But there are a few at home and in clinic options available, that don't involve going under the knife!

Topical Eye Creams:

These are a great first-line defence to target concerns like puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles. Look for ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C. While results may be subtle, they can be effective, especially when used consistently.

Cheek fillers:

Injectable hyaluronic acid fillers can support under-eye hollows, reduce the appearance of tear troughs, and smooth out fine lines.

This is a minimally invasive procedure with good safety record, but results are temporary and typically last 12 to 18 months.

BUT...not everyone is a good candidate for this treatment, so make sure you speak with a specialist!

Crow's feet Wrinkle relaxing:

This can address crow's feet, those wrinkles on the outer corners of the eyes, by relaxing the muscles that cause them to form. This is a temporary treatment, lasting around 3 to 4 months.

Skin Boosters:

Skin Boosters, injectable moisturisers help rejuvenate and refresh the delicate skin around the eye.

Resulting in improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles and minimised dark circles.

So before you book in that blepharoplasty, have a chat with an aesthetics practitioner, as they may be able to help.

Victoria Beckham is back in the press following the Beckham's Netflix documentary, renewing interest in just how she keeps her skin looking so amazingly flawless?!

Victoria has made no secret of the fact that she keeps her skin looking youthful and healthy with the help of the SkinPen - a type of microneedling device. And it’s got to be said that her skin looks fabulous! So, what is microneedling, what are the benefits, and can we all get skin like Victoria Beckham?

Microneedling (AKA collagen induction therapy) can sound a bit scary to some but, actually, there’s nothing to be afraid of. The skin is carefully punctured by sterile needles to create teeny weeny channels into the epidermis. This intentional (and controlled) damage forces the skin to jump into action, starting the healing process. This leads to collagen and elastic production, which gives our skin a more youthful appearance.

You’ll likely just be pink afterwards, but the benefits waaay outweigh the lobster look.

So, what are the benefits of microneedling? The great thing about microneedling treatments like SkinPen is that it works wonders on so many skin concerns. It’s awesome for improving overall skin texture, making skin look smoother and fresher, but it’s also fantastic for minimising the appearance of acne scars, pores, and fine lines and wrinkles. And it’s great for reducing stretch marks, pigmentation and even helping out with hair loss!

These super benefits last around three months too, so we’re not just talking a week-long glow here.

🤣

We get it...you don't want the world to know you "get help"!

But even if you don't want to "out" yourself as an aesthetics enthusiast on social media, why not consider leaving a review?

Reviews mean the world to aesthetic practitioners.

One of the biggest blockers to people booking in is not being sure who to trust with their face. So your reviews help others realise that the practitioner with the magic needle is safe, trustworthy and delivers great results!

And it takes just a couple of minutes.

Search "Glowday review" in your inbox, click the star rating & write a comment.

That's it!

All Glowday reviews are published with only your first name and they don't mention the treatment you've had, unless you do!

Your skin is the biggest organ, that really takes a bashing from the elements!

It needs (and deserves) to be taken care of...which is neither difficult or expensive!

Here's a good, solid basic routine.

☀️☀️☀️

Cleanse: Splash your face with lukewarm water and use a gentle cleanser to remove any oil, dirt, or leftover skincare products from the night before.

Protect: Apply an SPF30+ that doubles as a moisturiser.

🌙🌙🌙

Cleanse: Wash your face again to remove makeup, sunscreen, and any buildup from the day.

Moisturise: Apply a moisturiser to hydrate your skin while you sleep.

Optional Steps:

Vitamin C: Adding a vitamin C serum in the morning can help protect your skin from anti-oxidant damage.

Exfoliate: You can exfoliate 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells. This can help improve the appearance of your pores and make your skin smoother.

Retinoids: Using topical retinoids 3+ times a week can increase cell turnover and reduce fine lines, wrinkles and texture

Remember:

- Be gentle with your skin.
- Avoid harsh scrubbing or products with strong fragrances or alcohol.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Eat a healthy diet to give your skin the nutrients it needs to be healthy.

This routine is just a starting point, and you can adjust it based on your individual skin type and needs. The key is to be consistent and find products that work well for you. If you need a hand with this, why not book a consultation using the link in the bio?

HOLISTIC AESTHETICS

Why a full face approach is always best…

It keeps you looking natural.

Focusing on one feature/area can lead to unbalanced results, like overly plump lips that look out of place, or an unnaturally smooth forehead that doesn’t match the rest of your face.

A holistic approach considers how different treatments will work together for a cohesive and natural-looking outcome.

Address the Root Cause.

A fold or wrinkle might be a sign of volume loss in another area.

Looking at the whole face allows for addressing the underlying cause, creating longer-lasting results.

Begin with skin

The skin is the canvas.

A holistic approach incorporates skincare to improve overall skin health, making aesthetic treatments more effective.

If you would like advice on how to improve your skin health or are concerned about accelerated ageing, head to the link in bio and book a consultation.

Consistency is the golden rule for achieving healthy skin.

Just like regularly watering a plant, using the right skincare products for your skin type and goals, each day allows them to deliver their full effect.

Much like taking a walk each day, or ensuring you drink enough water, or hitting your protein targets.

Consistent efforts compound over time.

By curating a skincare routine with the right products, that fit in to your daily life, you'll help your skin stay balanced, reduce breakouts, and keep it healthy for years to come.

If you need a hand figuring out a skincare routine that works for you, your lifestyle and your budget, head to the link in bio and book a consultation.

The Powerful Three: SPF, Vitamin C, and Retinoids

The world of skincare can be overwhelming, but there are three hero ingredients that dermatologists consistently recommend:

☀️SPF
🍊Vitamin C
🔁Retinoids

Here's why these are must-haves in your routine:

☀️ Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is your daily defence.

Sun exposure is the NUMBER ONE cause of premature ageing, so SPF is non-negotiable. It shields your skin from harmful UV rays that cause wrinkles, dark spots, and even skin cancer. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, everyday, even when it's cloudy. Reapply every two hours, especially after sweating or swimming.

🍊 Vitamin C is your morning pick-me-up.

This antioxidant powerhouse brightens skin, fades hyperpigmentation, and boosts collagen production.

Vitamin C serums are best applied in the morning as they can also help protect against free radical damage caused by UV rays.

🔁 Retinoids are your nighttime renewal treatment.

Derived from Vitamin A, retinoids accelerate cell turnover, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. They also minimise pores and improve acne.

However, retinoids can increase sun sensitivity, so it's crucial to wear SPF daily while using them.

The Takeaway

☀️ SPF: Daily defence against sun damage

🍊 Vitamin C: Morning antioxidant for brightening and collagen boost

🔁 Retinoids: Nighttime renewal for smoother, clearer skin

Remember: Consistency is key! It takes time to see the full effects of these ingredients, so be patient and enjoy the journey to healthier, more radiant skin.

Stop asking for cheaper aesthetic treatments!!

The UK already has some of the cheapest aesthetic treatments in the WORLD....largely due to the lack or regulation when it comes to training, products and who can administer injectables...

Essentially, when you ask for cheaper treatments, you're effectively saying one (or more) of the following...

- I don't value your time, training or expertise, so I think you should earn less when you treat me

- I don't want you to spend the time necessary ensuring I'm safe, comfortable and looked after, so am happy for you to rush your work, so that I can save money

- I'm not that bothered whether the product you inject into my face is from a reputable and regulated supplier, that it has a good safety profile and it's been widely tested

- I don't really mind whether you are treating me in a place that is clinically appropriate and clean, using needles and consumables that are safe and sterile

If you can't afford aesthetic treatments, or you don't wish to prioritise your spending to be able to afford them, then don't get them.

We've all been there.

You see that new product all over your Instagram. It seems to be following you around the internet and you pop in to Boots and THERE IT IS!

But, really, the secret to achieving your skincare goals isn't the latest skincare launch. Or that product being peddled by that person on TikTok. It's consistency.

Consistency is the unsung hero of any skincare routine.

Here's why sticking to your routine is key:

Skin cell turnover takes time

New skin cells take about a month to develop and reach the surface. So, sporadic cleansing or moisturising won't give those products enough time to work their magic. Consistent use allows them to deliver long-term benefits.

Target those troublemakers

Whether it's acne or fine lines, many skincare concerns require active ingredients like retinol or benzoyl peroxide. These work gradually, and consistent use is crucial to see results and prevent future breakouts.

Prevention is easier than cure

A consistent routine with cleansing and SPF helps prevent clogged pores, irritation, and sun damage. Preventing accelerated ageing and pigmentation is far easier than tackling them once they've happened.

Find what works for you & stick to it

Chopping and changing products can irritate your skin and make it hard to pinpoint what's working. Sticking to a routine for at least 6-8 weeks allows you to see how your skin reacts and fine-tune it for optimal results.

Here are some tips to stay consistent:

Keep it simple

A short, effective routine is easier to maintain than a complex one.

Find a routine you enjoy

Make it a relaxing ritual you look forward to, not a chore.

Prep for success

Keep your products readily available to avoid skipping steps.

Remember, beautiful skin is a marathon, not a sprint. A simple routine done every day WILL get you results.

05/06/2024

There are some staples when it comes to investing in your future skin.

1. What you do at home. Assuming you don't have your very own facialist or a room full of skincare devices at your disposal, what you do at home to nurture, protect and maintain your skin is crucial.

A solid, simple at home skincare routine, tailored to your skin type, concerns and budget is the very best way to get the best results.

- Cleanse thoroughly.
- Treat your skin with ingredients that address your concerns, for me it's oiliness, redness and pigmentation...so I choose my ingredients accordingly.
- Protect your skin with an SPF 30+ that you love using everyday.
- Use a retinoid to stimulate cell turnover and collagen production.
- Exfoliate as much as makes your skin happy.

💷 to suit your budget
⏰ 20 mins
🗓️ Daily

2. Stimulate collagen in clinic. Collagen is the protein that makes your skin plump, taught & cushiony. Unfortunately, not only do we lose collagen as we age & we produce less and less of it each year.

Adding in treatments that help to maintain and create collagen are a winner.

Microneedling, polynucleotides and skinboosters are three such treatments.

💷 from £100
⏰ 45mins
🗓️ Every 3 months

3. Wrinkle relaxing treatments

Not just "3 areas", wrinkle relaxing injections can be used for whole face rejuvenation.

From sorting gummy smiles, to softening neck bands, can lift droopy brows and reduce the appearance of jowls.

A massive thank you to each and everyone of you that has taken the time to write a review!

But isn't that the point?

20/05/2024

Don't skip the forms!

Look... I get it... no one loves filling out forms, well some of you say by you do! but if you're serious about wanting any skin or aesthetic treatment, you MUST complete your forms.

They're not just a formality - they help ensure your safety and the best possible outcome AND are required by my insurance company!

Here's why your forms matter:

1. They reveal potential risks: Medical conditions, allergies, and even medications can interact with treatments. The forms help identify any potential problems and allow me to determine alternatives, if necessary.

2. They personalise your experience: Knowing your medical history and your goals allows us to tailor the treatment plan to be unique to you.

3. They ensure informed consent: It's important, before you go ahead with any treatment, that you understand the benefits, risks and potential side effects before moving forward.

4. They are required for any prescriptions...whether it's Botulinum toxin, cold sore medication, antibiotics or filler dissolving medication - I need the details within your forms for your prescription.

5. I can't treat you without them, as my insurance requires them!

So get your forms sorted, before you get to clinic!

17/05/2024

Have you heard of the 80:20 rule?

Often, patients rock up to clinic wanting their 3 areas and think that that's all that's needed to get the most amazing skin EVER.

Sadly, it's not that easy!

Laying the groundwork with a consistent skincare routine, healthy diet, and balanced lifestyle is key.

So how should your 80% look?

🧴Establish a solid, doable skincare routine - cleanse, treat, SPF.

🥗Nourish your body with good food, plenty of protein, fibre and good fats & get hydrated!

💤Get enough sleep for skin cell renewal

What about the other 20%?

Well, that's the cherry on the cake 🍒

In-clinic treatments like peels, microneedling, and injectables to target your specific concerns and give you that perfect finish.
